A company needs an environmental license to legally remove and dispose of an abandoned oil tank and any fuel oil or sludge still contained. Call Commonwealth Tank in Wakefield.

I believe Cox Fuel Co. took ours out when we moved into our house 18 years ago. I know we used them for many years, and I'm 99% sure they came in and cut it apart and hoisted it up the cellar stairs to the backyard. It was empty, other than the layer of sludge that they all get in the bottom. BTW, the new one they put in is still pristine, so they have a long life!
