I'm looking for recommendations for an OBGYN doctor, preferably a female, that accepts TriCare prime. Does anyone know the process/timeline for having a Mirena IUD...

Nicole S. replied:
Usually you go through your PCM they generally do not refer you of post to a OBGYN for IUD removal/placement, let them know at the time you schedule the appt. that that is what you would like removal and placement, they may not be willing to accommodate however Mirena states Remove or replace. It’s your choice. If you’re still undecided about adding to your family after 5 years, you can choose to have another Mirena placed. Just be sure to: • Let your healthcare provider know in advance. That way, he or she can remove your current Mirena and replace it with a new one at the same visit (removal, like placement, typically takes just a few minutes) • Schedule a follow-up visit 4 to 12 weeks after your new Mirena is placed to check that it’s in the right position http://www.mirena-us.com/after-mirena-placement/if-you-want-to-get-pregnant.php

You can go to the outpatient clinic. Sponsored by the Midtown Medical Center. It's based on your income. Thing is, You have to go through a financial screening first. The number is 706-571-1000. When the operator answers, tell her to connect you with t he outpatient clinic. Then, follow the promts for financial screening. You will see a doctor/nurse practitioner. But it's better than nothing or getting a huge bill from the ER. Also, if you're low income, the clinic pays for your medications as well. Good Luck on whatever choice you make. Take Care. : )
Shannon B. replied:
Columbus Regional also has a clinic and you can apply for financial assistance through the hospital. http://www.columbusregional.com/ColumbusContentPage.aspx...

Dr Gonzaga at Comprehensive Women's. Its in the same plaza as Dr Rees but a different building number. She is very attentive and cares. She used to work with Dr Rees but opened her own practice. Love her!! I wouldnt recommend Trinity Center because their receptionists were rude and never even got me an appointment scheduled after two weeks of calling in. The midwives might be good but their front desk was a MESS.
Courtney H. replied:
Dr Simpson is in a call group with Tidwell and Dorchak. Meaning u may end up with one of them if he's not on call when it's time to deliver. OBGYN Assoc IS the group the Midwives of Trinity are in. Those same doctors Thorne, Chappelle Eikelberry & McPherson are but a few of the doctors that work WITH midwives. PTs that see midwives are taken care of just as well as those that see MDs however their relationship with their PTs tend to be closer more open and time is given from the midwives, that's just a part of what makes them great! If anyone on this post has had difficulty with any of the staff there PLEASE do not hesitate to let a midwife or office manager know! Trinity has had some staff changes in the past month mostly new additions who are very friendly and welcoming! If you're having an appts issue please understand that things happen, people are imperfect, and sometimes people do get lost in the shuffle of life as in anywhere you may go. We are open Monday-Friday from 830-500 pm. Midwives are ALWAYS available during the day, at night and weekends. We have 4 wonderful caring women who LOVE women, care for them, help to keep women healthy as well as their babies. If this sounds like a place you'd like to try or if any of you feel like you may want a change please do not hesitate to call us! We would love to take care of each and everyone we can and we WILL return phone calls.
