I am in desperate need of recommendations for a psychologist or psychiatrist in the Columbus area or even Atlanta. I need someone who can help a dear person to me...

Cynthia Witzell at Landmark Counseling Services is amazing! She is in an office behind the center where Starbucks is on Manchester expressway. I've seen her for grief counseling after I lost my baby. Her entire office (colleagues) are wonderful too. They also help with PTSD, depression, anxiety, and many other things. They're on FB, but the number is also 706-576-6575 Or www.landmarkcounselingllc.com

I work for Dr Shroff, he's a great doctor! His new office is very nice and organized. The phone is answered from 10 am until 6 (or until the last patient leaves.) Later appointments are also available. Keep in mind that psychiatry is typically medication management, while psychology focuses on counselling and conversation.
Looking for a pediatric psychiatrist in Columbus to treat / monitor my son's ADHD. Suggestions? The good, the bad and the ugly. TIA.

Dr. Ellis is great! My son has been seeing him for several years. He actually listens and doesn't always believe that you add more medicine for the child. We saw Dr. Roberts at Rivertown and all she kept doing was adding more and more for my son until he was almost "zombied" out. My son had a melt down at school when he was 6 years old and she made me take him to the Bradley Center because she wanted to have admitted! All he was doing was throwing a fit and she wanted him to be admitted! When I refused to take him, she told me that if I did not have him there within 2 hours, that she was calling Child Services on me. I took him there and the Bradley Center talked to me and my son and then stated that my son did not need to be there because he was just throwing a fit at school and there was no reason to admit him since he was not going to harm himself or others! When they called Dr. Roberts, she got mad at them for not admitting my son and hung up on the nurse! We still see the regular doctors there but it states in my son's records that she is NOT see my son!

Dr Shroff and his NP Mrs Hatcher are really great physicians. New patient appointments are booking for 1 month away. 7062231933
Shalee M. replied:
Dr Shroffs wait time is not that long unless there are special circumstances. Every patient is different and some times it takes a few visits to change the medication regimen to ideal. Sorry your sister and nephew had a bad experience with him, but he really is a great Dr. I have worked with him since his first year practicing here in Columbus.
Cheryl W. replied:
Dr Schroff is a quack. Wouldn't take my dog to see him. They waited in the waiting room 2 and a half hours and once they got to the room another 45 minutes. When he finally came in he was in there less than 5 minutes. Gave my nephew 2 different medications without doing any testing or evaluations. He went by what my sister said as to what medications to give him. My nephew was a zombie for months. He now goes to New Horizons and he loves the doctors there.
Amanda B. replied:
Dr. Michelle DeRamus is a child psychologist at Preferred Medical Group. She is wonderful with ADHD. The pediatricians here work in collaboration with Dr. D, so they handle the medication/treatment side and she handles the counseling.
Jennifer M. replied:
We have seen Dr Roberts for general ADHD for years and really like her. We see Dr. Angela Sims who is a pediatric psychologist at the Pastoral Institute. She is extremely knowledgable and they have ADHD, behavioral and social classes there for kids which are very beneficial. We see Dr. Shroff for a psychiatrist. He is ok. Personality is so-so but he has been great at recommending appropriate meds for my son. The wait is long so be prepared.

Tina E. replied:
Dr. Murphy-Dawson at behavioral health partners or dr. Ellis.
Fawn M. replied:
Try Columbus Psychologist. They can at least point you in the right direction. My sons psychologist is great and wouldn't throw him on meds. HOWEVER, I will say....just as a side note. Since we've changed his diet to grain/gluten and dairy free we have seen a DRASTIC difference in his attention, mood and behavior. Something to think about
