I hate posting here but need some help, please. After a long history of excruciating back and stomach pain, we found out on late Friday that my 18 year old son needs to...

Finding a good urologist near FM is a difficult task. Let me cut right to the chase and tell you that the BEST is Dr. Gaylen Howard at Urology Associates of Denton. He was referred to me by a nurse and is top notch. When I had to have emergency surgery, I knew I was in the best of hands.
Jessica G. replied:
I was also going to say Dr. Gordon in grapevine. She is fantastic and makes you comfortable. I had 2 procedures done with her. Also, for an internist, Dr Kevin Page in grapevine is fantastic. Dr. Ferris is also in the same office and he is also great.
Susan S. replied:
Dr. Donald McKay at Medical City.

Barb G. replied:
Thanks, I had surgery with Dr. Fairbanks so I trust him, just not sure if he is still practicing or if we can immediately get in as this requires immediate attention. Nothing like hearing this on a late Friday when you can't do anything over the weekend!
Brenda J. replied:
Dr. Casey is great!
Barb G. replied:
We saw Dr Goldberg when he was a baby but we did not care for his bedside manner

I'm a nurse in surgery & recovery room. Hands down, Dr Galen Howard in Denton. He has wonderful beside manner & is on top of the latest procedures in medicine. If I ever had to have something done, that's who I would go to. I trust him implicitly.

See Dr Desai just off main in Lewisville. He is a great internist and very good at recommending specialists. We love him and several of my friends see him as well.

Dr. Fairbanks is great, worth the wait if you can. Or one of his partners, too.
Looking for urologists or other medical care providers who treat children with IC compassionately. All suggestions, referrals and ideas welcome for this ten year old...
Amanda M. replied:
Dr David kent is the most compassionate wonderful urologist I've ever seen (and I've seen a lot) he is younger and has young kids of his own and I've seen many children filter through. Katy tx memorial Herman hospital7138309100. Also Abby his nurse has a one year old and she is so compassionate and returns calls quickly.
Rachel B. replied:
Dr. Mitzi Barmatz, Tucson AZ. I've been seeing her since I was 16. She was the only person who believed me when we told her Cranberry made it worse! As far as tips, diet modification is key and always keep an anti-spasmatic on hand - Cystex doesn't upset the stomach like AZO. Using the IC website and also reading tips from other users has helped me greatly!

Saw where someone recommended Urology Associates Nashville. If all you want is a script and a follow up appointment then call them. No thanks. I remember my first at 5. It came back with a vengeance at 19. It wasn't until I cut out all processed foods and started to heal my body with whole foods that I was helped. Cystoprotek that I found on this site was a godsend. Many urologists want to give you a script and send you out the door. My heart hurts for this child.

I sent a recommendation by email. Dr. Robert Evans at Wake Forest in Winston Salem NC. He's a kind, caring uro and is one of the best IC doctors in the country. I don't know that a pediatric doctor is as important as one that understands IC and all the other auto immune issues that surrounds it. I hope they find a doctor that can help her.
Laura K. replied:
Dr Teresa Beam with Urology Assoc. In Avon, IN. My DD started seeing another doctor at age 8 but he has since retired. We both have seen Dr Beam since then. My IC started around 5 or 6 years of age.
Molly R. replied:
I was diagnosed at age 12, so I have a few that will work with children - Dr. Michael Coyle in Florida, Dr. Robert Evans in North Carolina and Dr. Lowell Parsons in California. They were all wonderful, but I will compile a list of pros and cons and just my general experience with each of them as a child, and I will email that to the email address in the article.

Dr. Sean Van Ziji..Upper Chesapeake Urology at both Havre de Grace and Bel Air locations...very compassionate and very knowledgeable, as I am sure all their physicians are.
Becca's check up went great. Blood counts are great! Her eye is looking great. She got her flu shot and was not happy about that at all.
The referral for the Urologist...
