We have used Carol Price - Clairmont Pediatrics404-321-4567. Small - she always answers her call.
Nicole C. replied:
Not in Decatur, but I love Dr. Nan Monahan at Piedmont. Super nice practice and she's young and cool.
Katie K. replied:
Oakhurst Pediatrics (and I'm not even in Decatur- we are in the grant park area!) Such a great practice!
Suzanne K. replied:
Dr. Robert Diekroeger. He's right next to Northside Hospital. Cannot say enough great things about him.
Kathleen G. replied:
Dr. Costly in Decatur
Jess G. replied:
I second Dr. Costly in downtown Decatur. Both him and his nurse practitioner are awesome!!
Joy T. replied:
Love Dr. Timothy Watts!

Check out Winn Way Internal Medicine. I see Dr. Grossman and really like her. I have also seen Dr. Chacko in a pinch and liked her as well. Even my husband sees Dr. Grossman and likes her!
Alicia H. replied:
Second the recommendation for Dr. Ilene Grossman at Winn Way Internal Medicine. Both me and my husband see her as our primary care physician, she is really fantastic!
Hey neighbors. Can anyone recommend a great primary care physician that takes BCBS?
Kathy M. replied:
Dr. Costley and staff are great. http://www.ponceprimarycare.com
Sarah W. replied:
I'm trying dr Emily walker at Dr Costley's office with my BCBS as I was interested in a woman and she can do my annual ob/gyn stuff too. Office is great, and dr Walker is extremely knowledgable and competent etc. I had an Er visit recently and when I stopped by to see Dr Waker afterward she seemed to have memorized my entire hospital chart! She listens and is very concerned etc. My only concern is that I'm a quirky scientist and she feels like a bit of a quirky scientist too, So we have awkward interactions. I might therefore see Dr Costly for general stuff and dr Walker for Ob/gyn stuff:-)
Anyone know of a good female General Practitioner in the area? My teenage kid no longer feels at home in the brightly colored pediatrician's office.
Amber H. replied:
Dr. Walker at Ponce Primary Care
Stacy R. replied:
Yeah, I don't know her name, but there is a nurse practitioner at Ponce Primary Care. G really likes her. I guess call & ask for the nurse practitioner with red hair?:)
Sally P. replied:
Dr. Walker does take BCBS. Not sure about hospital. She's a younger, very smart doctor.
Kristen D. replied:
I really like Dr. Ilene Grossman at Winn Way Internal Medicine. I'm not certain if she's accepting new patients but it worth checking. They take BCBS and are affiliated with Dekalb Medical.
Gina R. replied:
Love Dr. Ellen Ferguson. She is personable and really great at what she does. She is on N. Decatur Rd near Dekalb Industrial.
Heather B. replied:
Love Anna Steinberg. Didn't realize she wasn't taking more patients!
Mary J. replied:
Emily Walker
Sirkka H. replied:
All of the docs at Downtown Decatur Family Medicine are amazing (and, as a person living with chronic illness, I see a lot of docs). There are several female doctors.
Elibeth J. replied:
Dr. Ellen Ferguson is the best!
Amoreena S. replied:
Kara Brown is the nurse practitioner - she is great!
Angel B. replied:
I use Dr. Anne Steinburg at Decatur Family Medicine. She is really great, too.
Brenda O. replied:
Dr. Steinberg is not taking any new patients. Dr. Emily Walker at Ponce Primary Care is terrific!
Stacia O. replied:
Ponce Primary Care. I love everyone there, and usually see Kara. She is great. I also really like Dr Costley. Not female, but very down to earth, nice and approachable.
Hi all, I need a good primary care physician for me and my husband. Do ya'll have any peeps you like? I am not a fan of my present doctor.
Arlene G. replied:
I agree Ashley Jones Sickles...we have used Dr Gill for years now.
Bethany H. replied:
We use Dr. Lockard at Gill Family Medicine. Happy enough to stay...
Lauren R. replied:
We use Dr. James but I'm not sure if he's taking new patients! He's wonderful! Not a pill pusher and younger so he knows the newest technology and advancements! My husband has many GI issues and he was a huge part in finding out what was wrong with him!
Paula C. replied:
We use Dr Harbin. Love him.
Natalie B. replied:
My mom doesn't like the Gill place. We all go to Dr. Gowda in Hartselle. She doesn't try to bully you into taking meds you do not need to. Yay! And she is a family practice so our kids go, too! It's convenient and she really listens to what we say. When we say, no I don't feel comfortable, she obliges. No guilt or anything. She's awesome.
Any suggestions for a good general practitioner around Atlanta?
Sabrina O. replied:
I saw a PA at Emory's Office on Flat Shoals and he was very nice and very helpful. It's kinda a far drive from Decatur though. But his name was William Bryson. And he is at Emory Clinic Flat Shoals.
I lost my health insurance (and my beloved doc along with it) last year when Blue Shield decided to stop covering individuals and self-employed.
Kristina L. replied:
Emory system accepts Ambetter. I work at the Emory Clinic on Ponce in downtown Decatur that just opened in late 2017. We'd be happy to see you.
Nancy E. replied:
We used Harken until they abandoned us as well. Emory moved into their old space by Thumbs Up. Dr Lundberg is still there I believe and was great to work with.
