I have had several long-distance moves and the driver is the key to having a stress-free experience. Of course, you don't have control over that (unless you have the name of someone you know is good). so the best thing you can do is interview 3 or 4 national companies and be sure to read the fine print regarding their insurance coverage. I used Daryl Flood (Mayflower) coming from Texas and was fairly satisfied. My issues were b/c I had to put my things in storage in Dallas. All of the quotes I got were close to the same dollar amount. Whatever you do, don't go with a company you find on the net that says they will give you quotes without ever coming to your house. PM if you want to hear the horror story about that. Atlas, Mayflower, Nelson-Westerberg and Allied are the ones I interviewed. Good luck with the move!
