Looking for recommendations for good veterinarian in Alabaster area. Thanks
Erin L. replied:
Yes, McAdory was terrible. They messed up my dog's knee surgery but Dr. Fuller at Hope fixed it. Keep in mind I've been going to Dr. Fuller for over 10 years and the longest I had to wait was an hour 1 time. I would wait 3 hours if that's what it took to see Dr. Fuller though. I won't see anyone else!
Cheryl H. replied:
I've heard good things about Hope. I don't think I will change again unless Dr Price retires. He came to our house when we were out of town because our pet sitter said our dog was not doing well. It was on a Sunday and he came and checked our dog out and took him in to board so he could keep an eye on him. He's 13 (12 at the time) and has age related issues. Also, he calls pretty much every other month to check on him even if I haven't had to call for anything,
Janie M. replied:
Dr. Hubbard at Countryside (near the new Joe's) is a wonderful man.
Ashley C. replied:
Dr. Tipton at Banfield. She is so wonderful!
Angela O. replied:
Vet Care of Camera next to Marvin's is amazing. They now have wellness plans. We find them very affordable and compassionate. We brought our very old and sick baby to them the day before he passed (he just couldn't fight any more). The day after we called to tell them the news, we got a lovely card in the mail signed by all the staff. Our other vet's staff of 8+ years who treated him two weeks prior barely said "Sorry for your loss" over the phone. Vet Care of Caldera has an online pharmacy comparable with 1800 petmeds.com.
Holley F. replied:
I take my English bulldog to the Airport Vet. We love Dr. Buck!
Erin L. replied:
Wow Jill, you must be going at bad times to see Dr. Fuller. They tend to be more busy on Saturdays and Mondays and always in the afternoons. The longest I've ever had to wait is an hour but that was because they were understaffed that day and Dr. Fuller was in an emergency surgery. I usually go in the mornings when it's really not that busy.
Cydney B. replied:
Oakview in Pelham. Dr. Price is wonderful. I've never waited more than 15 minutes, and prices are reasonable.

Marisa L. replied:
I have only been once but I liked the doctor at Alabaster Animal Clinic. I took my daughter's puppy in there to get her first set of shots and he stayed in there and talked to me until I was done asking all of my questions and not once did I feel like he was trying to just get me out of the door. He was also far cheaper than Weatherly animal hospital for the same service.
Rachel B. replied:
Dr Hubbard.Lowest prices, low wait time and great staff. I use him for all my pets. HIGHLY recommend. I Echo the Dr Z, she is way overpriced and likes to do unnecessary costly tests. even though she is a mile from my house, GLADLY drive 20 minutes to Dr Hubabrd.
Kirsten S. replied:
Dr. Tipton at Banfield in Alabaster. She is so kind!
Ronny T. replied:
I use Montevallo Animal Clinic...their good and reasonable
Randl S. replied:
2 nd Montevall Animal Clinic. We've used Montevallo Animal Clinic for almost 20 years. No appt. first-come, first-served. All about the animals & not over charged for anything. It's not Alabaster but def worth it.
Erica M. replied:
Montevallo Animal clinic is WORTH the little drive! They have always taken care of our baby and I truly never wait very long. Be sure you check their hours though because the do close for lunch.
Erin L. replied:
That is great! I call Dr. Fuller on nights and weekends too. He'll come out to meet you for an emergency.
Kent G. replied:
Dr Hubbard at countryside at the crossroads in montevallo
Erica H. replied:
Dr. Leedy at Weatherly Animal Hospital... her!!!!
Jill S. replied:
Emily...I love Dr. Fuller but am so tired of waiting for at least two hours to see a vet there.
Jamie L. replied:
Dr. Hubbard is wonderful! Do NOT go to Dr. Z at Shelby Animal Clinic...unless you have an endless supply of money to pay for unnecessary tests & fees...
Tammy S. replied:
Dr Hubbard at Countryside is great. Never waited more than 15 minutes and the fees are very reasonable.
Jill S. replied:
I have used Hope for over 10 years. I love Dr. Jennifer Fuller..but I am getting so tired of waiting. The last time I was there there were only three people ahead of me and I still sat in waiting room for over one hour. I used to wait on Dr. Fuller, but now I take whoever will see me first. My dog is older and now trips to the vet make him so nervous that we both are worn out by time we can see a vet.
Brynna S. replied:
Not local but... I love Vestavia Animal clinic for exotic pets. We have used this location for 10 yrs on a wide variety of reptiles/birds/small animals. I love the vet hospital on 280 if you are having a loved pet put to sleep. They went above & beyond any of the other locations we've lost loved ones at; a keepsake memoir w/ a paw print, our pet wrapped neatly & placed in a box for home funeral, & a condolence note hand written in the mail. I love the Banfield plan for regular maintenance on common pets. If you have a senior pet w/ health issues - you really do save $. 1800JEFFERS or WWW.jefferspet.com for those of us who care for multiple pets
Brandi E. replied:
Alabaster Animal clinic!! Dr.Z is GREAT!!!
Rachel E. replied:
The Banfield vets are great. Dr. Jacobi has worked me in many times in crisis situations (I had a diabetic cat she cared for) and she has stayed late to take care of my girl. I'll never go anywhere else because of the level of love and care my pets and I receive there.
Ann E. replied:
We have been taking our Malamute to Dr. Z since she was born 5 years ago. Loved her at first but the past 2-3 years it has been a terrible experience. Hope animal clinic has been highly recommended will probably give them a try.

Not in Hoover but the [AL Spay Neuter Clinic](http://alspay.org/) is $70 for female cat and $50 for a male.
_throwingthings_ replied:
Vestavia Animal Clinic, on 31 next to Captain Ds, is great. Pricing has never seemed anything but reasonable to me and the doctors there are terrific. They're open on Sundays too.
Bmoe79 replied:
Standifers Clinic in Vestavia was the cheapest I could find at the time a year ago. They were also rated Birmingham's Best Vet. Also, groupon had year supplies of Trifexis on sale yesterday. I would for sure get them from there.
SaulsAll replied:
I'll second Vestavia Animal Clinic. They're an aware staff - they were able to catch my cat's weak kidneys and dehydration before any permanent injury, and have never tried to push certain foods or medicines on me.
PayMeNoAttention replied:
Chase Whitworth at Patton Chapel Animal Clinic on highway 31.
loligogiganticus replied:
I'm a big fan of Alford Ave Veterinary Hospital (right off the Alford Ave exit). Caring vets, very reasonable/competitive pricing. Not sure if this is still done, but they accepted my $40 spay/neuter certificate about 4 yrs ago when I adopted my rescue pup. I got it from the Spay/Neuter clinic, and they had a list of vets who would accept the vouchers.
poojo replied:
Not quite in Hoover, but Riverview Animal Clinic on Hwy 280 has arguably the most knowledgeable and skilled veterinarians in the state. And one of the best equipped facilities as well.
derpderpdonkeypunch replied:
The most reasonably priced place for flea meds is 1800 petmeds.com or something similar. Make sure you research what currently works. I think that fleas and ticks developed and immunity to Frontline or another similar medicine.
grey_cow replied:
Try [Hope Animal Clinic](http://myhopeanimalclinic.com/) on Morgan Rd. Very reasonable prices and very good vets. I have used them for 15 years.
ISO highly recommended veterinarians and (70+lb) large dog boarding facilities in Hoover & Bham areas please !!!
Linda S. replied:
Hope animal on Morgan Rd. Dr Fuller is the best! Exit 6 off 459.
Nancy S. replied:
I have used Dr. Susan Stark for over 10 years now. She is wonderful and very caring. Dr. Fuller is very good, too. but we had a bad experience with his grooming folks. This was many years ago.
Shannon C. replied:
Dr. Stark doesn't offer boarding though. We use Bluff Park Animal hospital as vet and boarding.
Marienne T. replied:
Lake Crest Animal Clinic in 150 in Hoover/ Dr. Hodges are great. Hope Animal/Dr. Fuller in Helena on Morgan Road are great. We have three, two are 80 lbs. each.

Home wood animal hospital. Amazing vet, 12/8.5 would recommend

I recommend [Standifer's Animal Clinic](http://www.standiferanimalclinic.com/). Been taking family pets there for over thirty years without issue.
mindshadow replied:
Dr. Lamb at Vulcan Park Animal Clinic. He's very good and won't try to bullshit you.
degaman replied:
Valleydale Animal Clinic is my favorite. Probably too far from southside though.
AUBeastmaster replied:
The folks at Alford Avenue Vet Hospital are good peoples.

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Petras at Grants Mill Animal Clinic. She sees pets and farm animals, is really friendly and understanding, and has good hours of availability (particularly Sunday afternoons).

Hope Animal Clinic on Morgan Rd isn't super close, but it's amazing! Seriously, I will never go anywhere else.

The Galleria animal clinic was amazing to me and my sweet guinea pig. The way I saw Dr. Borden treat all the animals there and the intensive dog therapy programs amazed me. It looks a little sketch from the outside, but dr.'s are great!

Peggy Sue had allergies and her vets have worked with me over the years and I think we have finally got a handle on it. We did see a specialist from Auburn at the Emergency clinic on Valleydale road once a month. He would only be there once a month. ...See More

We use Oakview Animal Clinic.
Mary H. replied:
I use Vestavia Animal clinic which I just love and Peggy Sue loved going there but since you need one close to Riverchase then I would recommend Oakview. My sister goes there with her dog that had major health problems and they were just wonderful.

We go to Dr. Jeff at Valleydale Animal Clinic and love it!
