Recommendations for free website builders? Hi everyone! I want to start working on my portfolio and I'm looking to build a site.
If you have used any free website...

I have been using Artstation.com. their portfolio sites are pretty easy to set up and maintain.

You should try Adobe Portfolio! I have a CC subscription through my school, but I think it's free, like Behance. So far, it's amazing. Very friendly UI and it's easy to customise too
rikagphoto replied:
Adobe Portfolio should work if you already have an Adobe subscription. The platform isn't much flexible or customize-able but works great for basic portfolio websites. If you can spend $5-7 a month you could go with a decent portfolio builder. There are many in the market including Pixpa, Format and Zenfolio. I'm with Pixpa due to their pricing but Format is just as good. Here's my portfolio in case you need a look: [https://rguite.pixpa.com](https://rguite.pixpa.com)

Wix is great, but free comes with many limitations like their banner ad and many other restrictions to use features. If you're looking to build a professional portfolio I'd recommend you Pixpa, they have some great plan starting from $5 and plus free trial period.

Maybe you can use Bowwe. It's a very good website builder, not expensive, even it has a free version also, the technical support is really resolutive, the editor is so cool, with a lot of options to customize your website... If you click [here](http://bowwe.com) you can check it out. Cheers :D

I’d recommend Wordpress but I’ve also built multiple sites with Joomla. Joomla is overly complicated for most artists needs.. Wordpress is also a content management system but is much more user friendly. You install it- pick a template and either use the existing gallery plugin or install a new one. Everything you can do with Wix- you can do with Wordpress. The difference is- wix’s free plans will restrict user bandwidth unless you pay a subscription. What does that mean? If you have a sudden burst in popularity- visitors will be turned away from your site.
Wordpress is free- webhosting must be paid for as well as a domain name(url) - I recommend this anyway.
I use 1and1.com for my urls and hosting- but there are numerous good hosts (research online). 1and1 are decently cheap and offer pretty good support. They also offer installing Wordpress straight from their website (previously you had to install via ftp and a bunch of more complex stuff- it is point and click now).
Some samples from Wordpress:

www.christopherbuckingham.org
Joomla:
www.kendralarson.com
I’m planning on converting the last one to Wordpress as soon as I get some time.
It does take a little more learning, however it is a good skill to have!
Hope this helps.
Revenez replied:
Really the only decent ones are Portfoliobox, Wix, and Weebly. You get some pretty ugly banners with Wix and Weebly though, unless you pay. If you can chuck 5$ a month to hosting from GetLark or some other host, plus like $12 a year for a domain, then it's better just to host your own site. As was mentioned, Wordpress is pretty straightforward and there's a lot of customization you can do.
amppager replied:
Mobirise is definitely worth a try. Portfolio templates as well as other topic-based ones are available.
ZestyNoodles replied:
I also use wix https://www.artofcourtneycoffman.com/ I like the way they let you build your site, imo good amount of different options, widgets, and more. Easy to edit your mobile version. I should note that I do now pay for wix just so that I don't have their name all over my site, but I don't think it otherwise differs that much from the free version.

I can recommend to read the reviews of the website builders. You can easily find them on the Internet. I find them to be very convenient as you can compare the most popular web builders on one page. Some reviews include additional information of pros and cons. Personally I read a review of the [website builders for Mac](https://www.webbuildersguide.com/website-builder-categories/website-builders-for-mac/) and found it to be very useful. Hope it helps!
Looking for "different" or custom houses in Huntsville - Hi everyone! I'm looking to buying a house in the next year. I've lived in HSV for 15 years, so I know the area...
flippzar replied:
If you buy a lot or land you can do whatever you want. Steve West, Mark White, Mike Johnson, and whole host of other independent builders will do fully custom homes. We have architects in town that design these things all the time. Even most of the top tier production builders can be flexible. They might be less inclined to do custom work right now because of the construction boom, but builders like New Castle have done unique builds at times. As far as already existing stuff, you'll need to look at older homes or at neighborhoods that weren't completely done by a production builder.
omega_ix9 replied:
I would love to knows what's up with the castle house on Monte Sano. Its like they had this cool idea for a unique home and then put a really crappy looking cinder block "fence" in front of it. Like... What happened?
GWBIII replied:
Lots of interesting older homes on big lots in SE Huntsville. Many have been nicely renovated to modern standards.

There is a custom built house about to be for sale in Jones Valley! Its off of Criner I do believe.
MattW22192 replied:
There are plenty of “different” houses and neighborhood in the area . Source I live in one of them and as a Realtor see what gets listed on the MLS day in day out. If you aren’t already you should really start being notified of coming soon listings which you can view on [ValleyMLS](https://www.valleymls.com/) and or [HomeSnap](https://www.homesnap.com/) . Since you mentioned already having an agent you can also have him or her set up with search(es) via Paragon Collaboration Center.

Conditioned Air. Great company, responsive, business-like and reasonably priced. Will give you multiple pricing options and configurations. I recommended them to a coworker and he liked them well. Angie's List sometimes has a coupon for them too.

I have used Thomas HVAC for service both in my rental house and my current house. They have been absolutely wonderful, totally honest and upfront, and went way above and beyond (including the tech coming out on his own time because he wasn't happy with how the system was working when he left it the day before.) I haven't had to have a new unit put in (yet) but they're the first place I'll try when I need one.

My son, Scott Gilbert, does an outstanding job with this sort of work. He's been a contractor for 20 years and specializes in additions and renovations. He just did a sunroom on Walton's Mt. You can message me if you want more info....phone number, etc. I can also tell you where he's done this work and give references.
