Crap, Mr. Electric is coming for an estimate Monday lol. To be fair they installed a junction box downstairs last year and were fine.
Alisa B. replied:
Melissa, they are saying that because of the picture that I took last week of the Mr. Electric van in the handicap parking space. The owner did call me and was quite upset that his employee had do that. They are just poking me. I know nothing about the kind of work that they do.
Anyone have an electrician they would highly recommend? Seems we have lost power to our entire 2nd floor.
April C. replied:
Adam Sullivan. 1 (256) 714-9801. Very nice and knowledgable guy. Wendy wiggins had him as a student in high school

JIm - 2564790259 He did all the work on our addition to our house/bathroom. Great job and reliable. Give him Dan Maxwell's name if you call.
Lindsay P. replied:
Philip Stevens did some work at our house. Very professional and tidy.
Kimberly P. replied:
If it's any consolation, the last electrician who came to our house said there's nothing wrong with our wiring or fixtures. He says Huntsville Utilities has a lot of power surges which causes all these problems, e.g. bulbs, appliances and fixtures having to be replaced. Hmmm, well actually that won't make you feel any better! But at least it's not likely "the house" that's the problem.

I've used [Bippen Electric](http://www.bippenelectric.com/) several times, and have been VERY pleased with their prices, work, efficiency, and attention to detail. They were recommended to me by a friend who felt similarly.

We had an emergency just last week where our entire box basically burnt out. Called Mr. Electric and they were there within 30 minutes. (This was at 7am). Explained what happened and what needed to be done. Agreed on a price and they started right then and there, stayed about 8 hours till the job was done and did incredible work. Very clean, professional and informative about what was going on. Best experience I ever had with a company like that. I've also heard horror stories about them so I know it can be iffy. There are just SO many electricians who work for them. Ryan was the guy's name who did our work and I would recommend him to anyone. Will definitely use again if anything else arises.
Anybody know a good electrician? I have a shed in the backyard that I want to run power out to. I would need to install a new breaker in the existing panel in my house...
idratherbflying replied:
Brian Slemp at Budget Electric *just* did this for me (well, about a year ago). External breaker box on the outside wall with 60A service, about 150' of trenching, buried conduit, and tie-in to the shed. See [this post](https://old.reddit.com/r/HuntsvilleAlabama/comments/lptocj/need_an_affordable_electrician/).

Wouldn't adding electrical to a shed require a subpanel (permit) and make the shed a permanent structure (permit, reassessment)?

the DIY on this is pretty simple--I think you could figure out the actual how-to with an hour of youtube tutorials.
