Does anyone have a recommendation for a local cabinet shop? We’re in the research phase of a kitchen renovation and I think I’m going to steer clear of Lowe’s and...

Are you doing them yourself, or contracting out? If it’s the former, check out Southeastern Salvage on Jordan. They’ve got a very eclectic selection of home improvement goods, and a *lot* more square footage than you would think looking at the front of the store.

We used Mark Kirkland of Kirkland Cabinets. http://www.kirklandcabinets.com He did our cabinets about a year ago, and we're super pleased. One year in and we have zero complaints. Would definitely work with him again. His prices were very good compared to big Orange. He also did my in-law's kitchen a few months ago, and they look amazing too. Totally custom. We showed a picture of what we wanted, then meet with him to discuss layout options and desires. Got exactly what we wanted in really nicely finished maple cabinets.

Huntsville American Cabinets just did my dad's house and it looks amazing. They're currently in a temporary showroom on Commercial Drive and their cabinet shop is in Morgan City since their former location was destroyed by fire. 256-883-1420 is their number, the showroom is open by appointment only until they move into their new location downtown.

I’ve used Haley’s a few times. I’ve always been happy and they are kinda a one stop shop. Have cabinets, counter tops, backsplash, flooring. Edit: a typo

I went through City Lumber. They retail the cabinets, but they're manuf by an AL company outside of HSV. Not sure if they're still repping the brand, but they might be able to point you in the right direction. Really happy with the aesthetics and durability. Had the cabinets for three years now, zero issues. They offer some flexible designs too, and will do the layout drawings, which is VERY helpful if you're not comfortable with design. Got a cool lazy susan for one corner, and they had another funky sliding/pullout option, as well as sliding shelves. Good stuff. Avoid Big Arnge and Big Blue. Have had customer service issues with both, every single time.

Don't know if they're still around, but Custom Cabinets in Priceville did mine some years ago.

It's a bit of a drive, but I've heard lots of good things about Glenrose Cabinets up in Belvidere.

Tucker cabinets did my laundry room. They are awesome, thier work is quality, and the price is very fair. Checkout thier work on Fb. Came out just a little cheaper than lowes for better wood and fully custon work.

Quite a few places in Ardmore do them.

Oldwood Custom Cabinets does amazing custom work, if you’re looking at hiring out for this project. Take a look at their Facebook for their portfolio of projects.
