There is a monthly subscription for 20 eur (altijd vordeel) , which gives you 20% discount in rushhours and 40% out of the rushhours. But you have to order personal OV chipkaart to use discount, the anonym isnt enough, you can find here how to order OV: http://www.ns.nl/en/travellers/ov-chipkaart/menu-ov-chipkaart/buying-an-ov-chipkaart

4. This is the overview of all the cards/abonements/plans for the trains you can get: http://www.ns.nl/reizigers/producten/abonnementen I guess the one that you would need is "Traject vrij". You pay monthly and therefore can travel for "free" on a set trajectory. When travelling to other destinations you get 40% discount outside the rush hours. Something like that :)

Olderburger bicycle store next to the train station lets the 3 gear type bicycle. They have a website (olden-burger.nl) but it looks like they haven't translated the texts yet. You should be able to get the gist of what it says with Google Translate though.

Friends have used the one in Scheveningen in the past on multiple occasions: www.fietsverhuurzuidholland.nl They have a good selection of bikes (but no racers). It is a short walk from tram 11 strandweg stop, then you can cycle the 23 km back to Leiden through some of the most lovely cycle paths in NL. https://en.routeplanner.fietsersbond.nl

It'll be a lot more expensive than normal bikes, on this site you can get one for a weekend for EUR 75 (325 EUR retainer) or 125 for a whole week: https://www.wiel-rent.nl/nl/huren/racefietsen-wielrenfietsen/ Edit: Hybrids are there too but not pictured. https://www.wiel-rent.nl/nl/huren/hybride-fietsen/ You'd have to take a bus there since its not really close to the Central Station: https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Leiden+Centraal,+Stationsplein,+Leiden,+Netherlands/52.143772,4.511953/@52.1542697,4.4824427,14 z/data=!3 m1!4 b1!4 m9!4 m8!1 m5!1 m1!1 s0 x47 c5 c6 e91 a3 d01 ef:0 x8 b0631885 afb0 eac!2 m2!1 d4.4820888!2 d52.1664042!1 m0!3 e3

Hi Michael, there is one cycling cub in Leiden called SWIFT. The website is in dutch. http://swift-leiden.nl/ Regarding shops, bikelane in Leiden is an option but it's quite expensive. Alternatives I know are Bikezone http://www.bikezone.nl/ in Roelofarendsveen or Vos Fiesen http://www.vosfietsen.nl/ The last one has good prices and a large variary but it's a bit further away. I checked their websites but couldn't find the trek brand. There are other shops in Den Haag too but I don't have experience with those
Hi everybody,
I'm arriving in Leiden in 10 days and I would like to buy a bike as soon as I get there. Does anyone know a trustworthy bike shop?
Thanks!
Ute E. replied:
Check the "Kringloopwinkel". It's a shop run by the city that sells all kinds of things that people are tossing out when they declutter their houses. Kind of like a permanent garage sale. They also sell bikes. You can also "lease" a bike for, effectively, 25 Euros. For that amount you can keep it as long as you want. http://www.kringloopwarenhuis.nl/index.php?id=leasefietsengels#c186

Hey everyone :) I was wondering whether anyone knows a good place to rent bikes and the prices please?
Darren B. replied:
haven't tried it yet, but this seems to have the best pricing http://www.ov-fiets.nl/ Has anybody tried this and can vouch for it?
Massimo F. replied:
Budget Bike on the Haven rents the second hand bikes that they have for sales. Not sure about the prices but I bet it is more convenient than the OV-fiets

Hi!
maybe someone knows if you can buy a bike from that storage where abandoned bikes are taken to?
Or if someone "borrowed" my lovely bike - please bring it back! :)
Christina C. replied:
If you had illegally parked your bike , aka not in a proper "fits stalling " maybe is Gemeente that took it . You can check in there page for a photo of your bike , note down the number , in order to recover it . http://www.fffw-leiden.nl/
