My experience is that mice can lick peanut butter off traps. I would go with cheese. (the older it gets the harder it gets).

Our landlord had to call wild things in the fall before winter. We had a raccoon in our attic. They were really great and I feel fairly cost appropriate as my landlord tends to go for the cheaper options. 519-435-1470 (for wild things)
