If you want cheap and you want a repair done now then the best is not available and you'll probably end up with some handyman who's not qualified. This is the busy season and anyone qualified will charge you the going rate and that's probably not economical if you're looking for cheap. At this point ASAP will be calling an HVAC contractor's on-call number and paying a premium.

How much troubleshooting have you done yourself? First and foremost check your furnace filter. If it’s dirty, change it. One other thing to try is turning it off and back on again at the breaker. Both the one for the compressor and the furnace. You would be surprised how often that actually works.

Ahhh this just happened to us. We had a leak and could either a) replace the coil and hope the outside unit doesn’t crap out b) replace the entire unit with a warranty. We went with option B. It was about $2800 and we went with GWB and they were great.
