Hi--I'm looking for a business called "The Gopher Getter." I used him to get rid of my gophers about 10 years ago and he did a great job. Does anybody know if he is...
GoFer A. replied:
Erika, Good morning, not sure about "The Gopher Getter" but I own a small gopher trapping business here in town if you need someone to assist with your gopher issue.
GoFer A. replied:
I can be reached either thru my fb page, email@goferandy@gmail.com or 500-5301. Thanks!
Carla V. replied:
The gopher getter is the man I used in the past. I believe he has passed away. I currently use GoFer Andy. And have had great success with him. Give him a call!
DeWayne W. replied:
Hi Erika, After retireing from the PD I started an animal control business. See my facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/WildAnimalControlLosAlamos?ref=hl#!/WildAnimalControlLosAlamos
Does anyone know of a local exterminator that will do a one time job at a reasonable price? We have an ant infestation in our garage doorway, with ants building on both...

Elizabeth, is your 'Bugman' the same as the guy listed above from Los Ranchos? if not, do you have a phone number for him? NM Pest control has not called back yet...
Elizabeth B. replied:
Bugman, inc., 455-3832
Shari A. replied:
Mr. Fagerlund will do an ant id for you so that you'll know which poison will work best. Lots of info on his website.
Celia B. replied:
I saw that info on his website...lots of good info there! There are only 3 types of ants in New Mexico, and these are definitely pavement ants, so an ID is not needed. Thanks for the phone number, Elizabeth...I still have not heard back from NM Pest control so I will start calling others.
Cyndi W. replied:
Oh, and, if you want to read about DE online, here is a page with info: http://www.luminofoodgradede.com/
Lisa C. replied:
I had NM Pest Control spray my yard for ants. I think it was about $135; $50 for follow ups. I think it was Los Alamos Pest Control that charges less, and guarantees satisfaction for one year. Let us know what you find!
Celia B. replied:
Well, Los Alamos Pest Control turned out to be a company called Home Advisors that is a referral service for screened professionals all over the US. I first tried to fill out the request for an estimate form online but it was not working. I then called the toll free number and talked to a long-distance operator who informed me that they urrently have no screened professionals in our area, and she referred me to a company in Rio Rancho that does not come out this far, lol. One down, one to go!
Shari A. replied:
We've had good luck with NM Pest in past years. Also, try Richard Fagerlund http://askthebugman.com/contact/
ISO: I'm looking for an exterminator for critters in the house. I want to take care of it before they breed! Please send me pm with questionable or negative experiences....
Brian M. replied:
Metzger's carried one for a while that used C cell batteries. For our NM packrats, you want a rat zapper that uses the D cell batteries. You might check with them to see if they can order one for you. If I still had mine I'd lend it to you, but this is what they look like: http://www.amazon.com/Rat-Zapper-RZC001-Classic/dp/B002665ZTC?ie=UTF8&keywords=rat%20 zapper&qid=1460589841&ref_=sr_1_2&sr=8-2

Need recommendations on exterminator. House in Tsikumu development has mice in walls. Want them killed/removed and blocked out without hurting dog in house. ...
Debbie M. replied:
Most businesses with their home office in ABQ and SF are not a 'deal' for work in Los Alamos. They, of course, charge travel expenses and time for their 100 to 200 mile round trip, which adds a lot to the bill. Personal example: Plumbing company out of SF drain cleaning $265, LA Roto-Router $100. ( first bill obviously added in 2 hrs driving time plus gas.)
Debbie M. replied:
New Mexico Pest Control is good- although I have never used them for mice. They are out of SF, but one guy is almost exclusively in LA. 474-5972 Anyone know someone based out of Los Alamos? ps. I like the NM businesses much better than the National chains.
Andrea P. replied:
Call Bug Man at 455-3832. They have someone who lives here in Los Alamos -Chesco.
Cindy B. replied:
we used preventative pest control from ABQ. While we always try local first we have problems getting local contractors to return calls. We looked for local sprinkler repair and local exterminators but at the end of the day Preventative Pest Control was the only vendor that seemed to want our business. That is an oddity that we have discovered since moving here, it is hard to find reliable people who show up when they say they will or call you back.
Fran T. replied:
Bug Man has helped protect my home and trees in WR for years! Great people and ALWAYS responsive to trouble calls. I have monthly service (sugar ants). Price is reasonable and in-between calls are a no-cost plus. Highly recommend!!!
Need small appliance repair (stand mixer) and also a pest control person. thanks.
Elise U. replied:
We recently used Jon Tom Repair for our dishwasher. He was excellent, and it would be worth the call to see if he can do small appliances too. (505) 412-3781
Annie T. replied:
Call Eddie at New Mexico Pest Control.
Annie T. replied:
473-2986 Sorry I forgot to give you their phone number.
fwiw, I find where they are coming in and lay down a layer (in this case it's my counter) of powdered sugar and baking soda 1:1 Takes care of the problem almost instantly, and isn't dangerous to kids or pets (if that's a concern). They are attracted to the powdered sugar, but will accidentally eat the baking soda, since the grain size is the same and they can't tell the difference. Reacts with the acid in their stomach and bam, done with the ants. I've also known people who do the same but put it directly on the ant hill.

I have used The Bugman forever and a day. They are u the phonebook.
Dale at LA Pest Control. (505) 412-0412. We had a pretty horrific mouse problem and he came and checked all entry points, then his other company, Golden Seal, sealed the holes externally while setting traps internally. Mice problem was taken care of in less than 3 days. His prices are less than your standard house sealant and it comes with a 3-year guarantee with the house (so if you sell your house, the guarantee goes with the house).
I'm looking for recommendations for pest control who's willing to remove an under-eaves board to evict a packrat. Traps and bait haven't worked and it's gnawed through...
Elisa B. replied:
while I didn't personally need their services, http://santafe.crittercontrol.com/ was on the list of contractors my realtor recommends!
