Moving to Manchester in May and I'm looking to find a good vet around the area I'm willing to drive, and also looking for a local pet store that sells raw dog food...

Highly recommend Epping Road Veterinary Hospital in Exeter. Well worth the drive. The two veterinarians who own the clinic are the most compassionate and kind vets I have ever met.

Try Sandy's Pet Food in concord! They have the best prices for the high quality foods.

Does anybody know of a good vet in or around Manchester? I was taking my cat to Caring Hands on Southwillow St. But they want to sedate my cat for an yearly exam and I...
Jeanne M. replied:
Ark animal care. They'll come to your house. I have two VERY skittish cats, and they always manage to examine them without sedation. They are great. And no need to crate up the cat. http://www.arkanimalhomecare.com/mobileveterinarianhome.php
Angela D. replied:
If you're willing to go to Deerfield, I absolutely love Deerfield Veterinary Clinic!
Lisa R. replied:
Deerfield Vet. If your cat is aggressive... I can see why but if not then not need for sedation.

Queen City Animal Hospital Dr Comeau and his staff are fantastic!!
Donna W. replied:
http://bedfordanimalhosp.com/ I've known lots of vets over the years in my line of work. This is one of the best in southern NH. My opinion of course.
Jen S. replied:
All of our cats have only ever been to Goffstown Animal Hospital. We are happy with them.
Pat P. replied:
Ark Animal Home Care. I can't say enough good things about them. Check out their website--caring, compassionate staff--best decision I made after my vet left the area. This has always been a multi pet household and I have found the overall cost to be less, and the cats are never stressed because they don't have to travel in the hated carrier. The dog just about opens the door for Dr. & assistant when they arrive--she loves them. The Ark is a traveling surgery center--surgery in your driveway. And although sad, when our 21 year old cat Blackie had to be euthanized, it was in his favorite bed on the couch--no stress--no fear (just the usual lot of tears). Check them out. You won't be disappointed.

I am sure things will be cleared up. You honestly could not ask for a better place to take care of your animals. Good luck!
Does anyone know of a vet that will take care of rats in the area? I've been driving to weare and would like to find a place closer.
Debbie F. replied:
Northside Animal Hopsital treats many different pets, even the less common ones: Birds Reptiles Hamsters and Gerbils Ferrets Guinea Pigs Rabbits Rats and other pocket pets
Terri C. replied:
Try Northside Animal hospital, on Arah street behind Hooksett Hannafords. Dr. Bloomfield is awesome and he and the practice cares for all kinds of exotic animals.
Margaret K. replied:
I've also heard good things about Northside Animal Hospital. For emergencies, there's Windham animal hospital, but they're pricey, and concord veterinary hospital which is a bit more reasonably priced

Is there any website or good way to look up the credentials of a vet behaviorist referral?
Monica B. replied:
http://www.dacvb.org/about/member-directory/
Rebecca C. replied:
Whitney, there ARE veterinary behaviorists in MA and NH! Emma is wonderful, but she is not a veterinary behaviorist. I will try to get you a better link. Where do you live? Dr. Nicholas Dodman is@Tufts in Grafton, MA. He most readily comes to mind b ut I know there are quite a few more. Dr. Amy Marder also comes to mind. I think there is a link in the files section of this group also. You could ask your primary care vet for a referral also.

You could always try grooming him or her yourself? I have a shih poo and a shih/maltese mix and I groom them both myself. Taught myself. Just make sure to give plenty of breaks because the blade can get hot. Always check it on your skin first. Your dog may be more comfortable at home with having you do it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0084EHWDW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Susan G. replied:
I highly recommend Downtown Canine, 55 Calef Road, in Manchester. Tel: 656-9991. Susan is an excellent groomer. She has received many awards for grooming at the very big dog shows. She also grooms the Manchester Police dogs. She is fantastic. I had a very bad experience at Pet Smart and Tails Above the Rest. At least call Susan and talk with her. You won't be disappointed.

Juli A. replied:
Dr. Whitebone at Naticook Animal Hospital! He opened his clinic because he believes in keeping care affordable and individualized. Apparently a lot of clinics are being bought by large corporations (similar to people hospitals). One of the best things is that he won't to testing or procedures that he doesn't think are necessary to solve the problem. He is personable, gentle with the animals, and if he doesn't know he researches the answer. I can't say enough good stuff about him. http://naticookvet.com
