My niece is coming to visit for the summer and she's 7 and going into 2nd grade we are looking for a summer day camp to keep her busy. Any affordable recommendations?
Lacey H. replied:
There are tons of free VBS camps in the area. Check out crosswaterchurch.org and cascade community church's website for more information. I think there is also an all city soccer camp put on by numerous groups in Monroe that is adorable. Probably on the city of Monroe website or even this fees from a few weeks ago!

Sky river daycamp is a Girl Scout, volunteer led camp. She just needs to register as a Girl Scout if she is not a current scout. My daughter went last year and had a wonderful time https://www.girlscoutsww.org/Things-To-Do/Volunteer%20Led%20Day%20Camp/SkyRiverDayCamp.pdf

The YMCA ;) Discovery Camp as long as your youngest will be entering kindergarten this Fall. Otherwise, they have all sorts of other great camps in special interests. By the way if your youngest is entering kindergarten this Fall, he may also be eligible for the kindergarten readiness, Jump Start Program. I know one of the teachers and she is awesome! ;)

I don't know if you have ANY interest in sleep over camps, but my kids started going to girl scout / boy scout camps the summers before they were going into 1 st grade and went every year since (now graduating high school). They have been the most wonderful experiences for them (although I admit it was extremely hard for me the first couple years to get used to them not being home.) Girl information can be found at: https://www.girlscoutsww.org/things-to-do/go-to-camp/Pages/default.aspx If you are interested and need help finding boy scout camps in the area, let me know and I can help you find them, also.

Camp Invention is another one. Usually it runs out of one of the elementary schools during the summer for one week. I think Fryelands is the most recent campus that hosted it but I am not certain.

Dave Stangland or his wife in Everett. Dave used to be the band teacher at Heatherwood Middle School in the Everett School District. My son took clarinet and sax lessons from both of them and I highly recommend them both if they are still teaching. He was my son's teacher twenty years ago!
