Ok Israel folk: Seeking recommendations for Ulpans in Jerusalem. Go! (Ulpan Etzion is out - too old).
Elyssa K. replied:
But, ulpan at Hebrew U is supposedly "more academic" so you might get more out of it...
Nate F. replied:
I loved Ulpan Morasha.
Joshua S. replied:
Hebrew U is such an awesome cultural experience. You meet people from all walks of life.
Elyssa K. replied:
Look into Ulpan Morasha, on Shlomtzion ha'Malka 18. They drill you and get you to speak quickly
Sarah G. replied:
I did Morasha, but its really a beginners ulpan, which was good for me. Bet Haam will have your level, there is also a mens ulpan but I don't know much about it. Those are the only free options in Jlem. Heb U is super expensive.

Shayna Zed - Right now I'd like to learn how to talk to Israelis and read menus. Initially looking for free ones since I can always pay for one later.

Shayna Zed - Thanks!!!

I think Beit Ha'am is the one I went to, but was in Beit Mitchell on Sokolov when I did it. Mixed group of people, mostly older - my grandmother is there, but also younger people - you know, a motley crew of Olim Chadashim. But my teacher was great.
I know that this has been asked a million times on this group, but I am an Oleh chadash and I am looking for a intensive Ulpan program. I have heard great things about...

There is also Ulpan Beit Ha'am which is also approved by the Absorption Center (as Jenna just mentioned.) There are also some men only/women only programs (nbn has a list on their website, which also gives you info as to whether or not its subsidized, private, etc ulpan). If you are willing to pay, Ulpan-Or - Learn Hebrew is fantastic!

Hey everyone. Can someone recommend the best ulpan in Ashkelon with contact details pls? Thanks.
Leslie F. replied:
Went to the ulpan at Bet Vosk (in Afridar off Johannesburg street) and was perfectly happy with it. Hedva was the teacher, she's good. Serious type and doesn't bail you out with too much English in class so you have to learn to manage. You register thru the govt education office above the major shopping center (entrance is at the far end where the Shuk Ha Ir supermarket is) across from the college.
