Dr. Ehab Ibrahim 3 Stockton Ave Jamesburg, NJ 08831 (732) 656-0039 Such a sweet, sweet and intelligent vet! I have sent so many of my friends and family there for their pets and none of them have been disappointed He actually visited one of my friend's sick dog during his vacation and ended up saving the dog's life when other vets were misdiagnosing the dog.

Looking for a veterinarian in the Newark/Essex/Hudson area. Hey guys,
We just got a cat after moving to Newark a few months ago. The cat needs a vet and I don't know...

I still take my dog to [West Orange Animal Hospital](http://www.westorangeanimalhospital.com/) even after we moved to a different county. So, I highly recommend them, at least for dogs. In my opinion, they have reasonable rates, listen to and respect your concerns, and don't push unnecessary procedures/shots/etc. The staff is good, usually I end up waiting a little past my appointment time, but it's understandable and they have convenient hours. They also have an online "pet portal" that keeps track of your animal's appointments and vaccinations and sends reminders.

I can't say enough about [Secaucus Animal Hospital](http://www.secaucusvet.vetsuite.com/Templates/GridCritters.aspx), especially if you have a cat. We tried three other vets over the years before giving Dr. Hatch a try. I can't imagine going anywhere else now. They spend more time with you than any vet I've been to.

Worth the trip is Dr Pet Daddy in Astoria (not far from you but you have to cross a bridge!!). We've been going to them for months after adapting a puppy from a shady shelter. Extremely friendly, take all our 'nervous parenting' questions very seriously. Warm environment - and very, nice clean facility! Never been happier, and I'm someone who hates the health system in all its forms! http://www.drpetdaddy.com/

I take my cat to One Love Animal Hospital (Yorkville Animal Hospital) on 84th in between 2nd and 3rd. They are always able to squeeze us in for an appointment and are very friendly. I like going there because it's always quiet (meaning no dogs barking to scare my cat-some places like to pack you in and it's just crazy.) They aren't the cheapest, but they haven't tried to rip us off either. I picked them for two reasons: 1. I live next door so it was just really convenient, and 2. My cat just so happened to be housed at the Bay Ridge location before we adopted him, so it seemed like a good fit. The vet who saw him here also saw him before he was adopted, and was very honest about any issues he had in the past.

I have been to a lot of different vets. I can unconditionally say Hudson Animal Hospital is the most caring, ethical, transparent place I have ever been. There are two vets that work there. They both took expensive time to call me and chat for follow ups. They broke down costs and said what was needed, what could wait, etc. They have one receptionist who is extremely knowledgeable and reaches out to confirm scheduling. Unfortunately they are on the Westside at 61 st. I would crosstown for them however.
