Just putting it out there because I know it has a direct effect on it. Sharing information and not assuming this is your case. So our pores are out biggest organ and when we struggle with skin problems, such as acne it can sometimes mean something deeper. Deeper... as inside your gut. Do you struggle with Candida? How about inflammation? Your hormones? A lot of times our bodies are combating something greater than a skin irritation. I've heard of people making a significant difference in the outcome by addressing their microbiome, the health of their gut, working towards eliminating toxins within our system, down to every cell in our body. We always think of the surface, but our skin is a direct reflection of what is going on in the inside. To truly treat it, with whom ever you end up seeing, I would address the deeper issue. I'm not a doctor, but extremely into holistic health and have read a lot about this for my own health. A lot of people say "oh, I'm healthy", but most aren't thinking beyond exercise and processed foods. What is your stress like? Your sleep? Your toxic consumption--- medication, chemicals, anything synthetic that goes in or on our body creates inflammation, a form of havoc, within our body. Also our thoughts can affect our skin, too. Crazy I know it sounds, but this all truly makes such a difference. I would work with someone that will work with you to address the real root problem and not just sell you a bunch of product or treatments. I love Keri Turbeville she is passionate about helping people with their skin problems and if you want to see an esthetician, Julie Rowland at 435.513.2990 is licensed. She now works for Waldorf Astoria, but the last I saw her she was seeing people at home, too. May not be the case anymore, but check her out. French women always know what to do, wink. Wish you the best of luck as I know it's frustrating.

I'm a redhead sun worshipper. Finally, got some basal cell cancer 18 months ago. Dr. Kern treated me well and didn't lecture me about my sun addiction. He also was very understanding about my medical anxiety and gave me an Ativan prescription to calm my nerves for the surgery. Note: this episode did inspire me to start sitting under an umbrella at the beach and wear a hat when walking my dogs.

I'm noticing some strange freckles lately... Who is a reliable dermatologist and not going to try to sell me a facial and just get to my concern in Park City or SLC?...
Jon D. replied:
Keri Turbeville the best!!!
Barb P. replied:
Dr Woseth in SLC.....removed a rather large basal cell from the middle of my face in December. 27 stitches worth of large and I can just barely see the scar. FYI, it was not a dark spot either-it was white-so be aware of all changes on your skin.
Ann K. replied:
I have had skin cancer for decades. Am very fair and spent my childhood on the beach. The best Dr. out there is Dr. Swinyer...hands down. I am very thorough in selecting. Went to Dr. Kern, will never go back. Dr. Woseth is with Dr. Swinyer. I go every six months.....they check hair, nails, eyes and obviously skin.
Barb P. replied:
And Laurie Ellis with Swinyer/Woseth is a fab NP too

Can anyone recommend really good dermatologists for sun spots treatment in the area?

Stay away from Dr. Kern. Everything he ever removed from me left awefully scars. We now use the docs at Dr. Parkinsons office in Provo.
Orrie S. replied:
Jenny Clark at Redstone
Megan W. replied:
Dr Gardner at Park City Hospital
Gabrielle L. replied:
Go see Helen Krakow at Lespri. Not an dermatologist but the best esthetician you'll ever see. She formulates her own product line and is working on something new that would likely help your sun spots.

I'm a Dermatologist but live in Scottsdale, only go to Park City in the Summer (and every minute I can!). I think Dr. Steve Kern is in town there, I am licensed in Utah but always have too much fun when I am there to work. Seems like there is a great need for more Derms. Good luck!
