Pfennig Lane Animal Hospital. Very reasonable with personal care.
Julee D. replied:
For vaccines, Imancipet. For holistic full service Veterinary care, Sunflower Mobile Vet. Dr. Keller is the best vet we have ever had. She will tell you which shots are necessary, and which ones are not. Vaccines are big money makers for vets, but too many can weaken your dog's immune system. Dr. Keller was a "regular" vet for many years until she learned more about holistic care.

Check Wells Branch Pet and Bird Clinic. They always have coupons in the Austin Chronicle (easy to find and print online) and I think there is usually one for puppy shots or at least a free office visit. It is over across Mopac from N. Austin Medical Center but for us it has been worth it as Dr. W has been our vet for over 17 years. Not the prettiest place but they are awesome.

Dr. Riggan and Dr. Miller at White Rock Veterinary Hospital! There are other doctors there too and from what I have heard, they are all just wonderful. They are so caring and know exactly what they're doing. Can't recommend them highly enough.
Mackenzie B. replied:
Animal care clinic! Dr. Jill is amazing and is not just in it for the money.I’ve had HORRIBLE experiences with hometown animal clinic. Rude and unknowledgeable staff.
Dawn M. replied:
Hometown is great but never under any circumstances take your pet to Pflugerville Animal Hospital. They killed my dog by hitting an artery while drawing blood from the jugular. She bled to death. They then charged me over $250 for her "labs"
Jerica L. replied:
Talk with Dr. Minor or Dr. Weaver at https://www.facebook.com/132699710758259Hometown Animal Care..I work mostly with Minor and tell her my budget and she stays within what I can afford. She is fantastic as diagnostic. Dr. Weaver is fabulous too. My friend uses him for everything, he's just never available when I need to go and built that relationship with Minor.
Emily A. replied:
I love our vet - Dr. Watson at Tech Ridge Pet Hospital. I've had great experiences with all staff members at this practice.
Kat L. replied:
Dr. Daigle at Premier Pet Hospital is fantastic. There is only one other that I trust and that is my family friend who is a vet and lives in Houston but since we can’t drive there all the time we see Dr. Daigle now. He is so caring and thorough and very patient when I ask 500 questions lol. It’s a little bit of a drive but it’s definitely worth it to receive great care for my fur babies

Cynthia G. replied:
Dr Weaver at Hometown Animal Care is the best vet I've ever had. Without a doubt! His diagnostic skills are impressive and he is great at communicating (with humans and animals). Dr. Weaver is a compassionate and wise clinician that treats conservatively without under-treating your fur baby. He's a good surgeon, too. He's THE vet for my current pets and my most recent pets (an English Mastiff and a short haired Persian).
Debi M. replied:
My cat's vet is Dr. Bendall as my cat refuses a carrier so he comes to the house... If I have to physically take one of my "kids" to the vet I choose Pfennig for bigger needs and Thrive for basic needs.

Any recommendations for a vet? I need to get my dog microchipped but would also love to find a place should I ever need to take her in the future. Thanks!
Kathy M. replied:
If you are a resident of Travis County, microchips are free at the https://www.facebook.com/115505368695Austin Animal Center (open every day from 11-7 pm). No appointment required. **You will need to “register” the chip with the chip manufacturer (HomeAgain) for a one-time fee of $19.99. A very worthwhile investment!

Dessau Veterinary Clinic on 685! We were recommended to them when we adopted our dog from the Pflugerville Animal shelter 6 years ago and they are wonderful. You won't beat the price for bath and nail trimming anywhere else either. They do day care during the day and board overnight also - again you won't beat their price for either. My dog LOVES going.

Pflugerville Animal Hospital is also awesome. Great and super friendly staff; reasonable pricing. They'll also price match flea and tick meds. We got our fur monster spayed at Emancipet and that was also a good experience.

I love the staff at Hometown, but my pocketbook didn't. I now use Graef Veterinary in Taylor. Cheap and great care, but you have to get there about 7:30 for doors to open at 8 because they do not take appts. Walk-ins only. Had to put down a senior cat one year and a senior dog the next. It was $25 both times. I don't know who was crying deeper, me or Dr. Graef. Both times he hugged me until I stopped sobbing. I have dogs, cats, and horses and trust him completely!

LOVE Graef in Taylor. I also do boarding and all my regular customers use him. Clinic opens@8:00 - you gotta be there at 7:00 if you don't want to wait in line all day. He has been spaying/neutering all rescues and owner surrenders we have taken in over the last 5 years and we have never lost a single one. One of my girls had cancer and he removed her whole mammary chain for a fraction of the costs the Pflugerville vets wanted (i get it, they need to pay their bills). Graef's clinic, is country, no bells, whistles or fancy building - but AWESOME vet care. check out his ratings https://www.facebook.com/pages/Graef-Veterinary-Hospital/158696717496673
Sherry R. replied:
On another note, if you need X-rays - Kings Highway in San Marcus Rocks - last I checked vet visits were like 25.00 and they have a state of the art digital X-ray machine only 130.00 and they will take as many pictures as you need for 130.00. It only cost like 15.00 to 20.00 extra to have them sent off to be read by a specialist. They also do CBC's for only 25.00 - so worth the drive. Had a dog that needed X-rays and a cast between them and Graef it only costs me 200.00. Every Pflugerville vet in town wanted 700.00/up I drove 2 hours round trip between the 2 vets and saved over 500.00. I've gotta ditto Emancipet for vaccines and monthly worming. Don't forget Thrive afforable vet care just opened up - great prices on Dentals. https://www.facebook.com/thrivevet/

We ended up at the Emergency Pet Care of Round Rock several years ago for our sweetie with what ended up being congestive heart failure. They were top notch with her and then they kept her until the internist could see her the next morning. We have also been to Heart of Texas but it was for post surgical care after knee surgery. She was transported there by the surgeon who was affiliated with them so they could keep an eye on her overnight. They were wonderful when we went to pick her up the next day and I would have no problem returning another time. So glad we have such awesome options close by!
