Just signed my son up for Beach Cities Church summer camp. UGSFAW at First Christian is super cheap and tons of fun, too! I'm also going to put my boys in baseball (Lifeletics) and football (Pop Warner) camps this summer.

Sce.edu Sign up for my Joyful Parenting class. Monday@Wilshire/ Fullerton College 9 AM -10:50 or 11:00AM - 12:50. I also teach same classes on Thursday in Anaheim@Euclid and Romneya. Same class times. These classes are FREE and Mommy Daddy or Grammy enroll and attend with the child. Child ages 1 1/2- 4 yr. olds. The child is your guest. You do have to provide a snack as our classes are designed like a preschool setting: Art, Music, manipulatives, science, circle time etc. Lots of fun. 6 weeks in the summer from June 29 th till first week in Aug. This program begins again in September through next June every 10 weeks. I hope this helps. Registration for summer session coming up in June. See schedule below:

Camping (cabin) recommendations? Planning my sons (3yo) first camping trip with his grandfather (65yo) and would like to find a cabin within an hour or two of Phoenix....
altahack replied:
Check out Christopher Creek. Just outside of Payson (1-1/2 hrs from east valley) and you should be able to find a rental that fits what you are looking for. Not sure about swimming in the creek though. EDIT:This seems like what you are looking for....right on the creek, campfires, fishing http://christophercreeklodge.com/
unclefire replied:
You could go north, or you could also go south towards Tucson. I did a rental (2 bd) on a ranch outside of Elgin about a month ago. 5000 ft elevation, camp fire at night, horses, mountains and places to have fun out doors. It is high desert, not like rim country or flag though. Still really cool landscape. The stars, oh the starts you could see at night, holy cow. There are rentals up near Strawberry and Pine too. Campfire might be a challenge though b/c in some of those areas houses/cabins are too close and the danger from forest fires. There are some places up that way to hike and get in the river (Fossil Springs?) You could also check VRBO or Homeaway for places.

Might want to check out [Lake of the Woods](http://lakeofthewoodsaz.com/) in Pinetop/Lakeside as well as Christopher Creek/Kohl's Ranch. The accomodations are pretty basic, but I went there often as a child, and it's a very easy setup for adults as the cabins are right by the lake for easy fishing, and there are many hiking trails just a short drive (minutes) away in the area. It's a bit further than two hours (it's just outside show low, so it's more like 3-3.5 hours) but a very nice area.

You'll need to check this website for fire restrictions before starting a camp fire. There are already a lot of restrictions on camp fires in the state due to high fire danger, and they always seem to be adding more restrictions as summer progresses and it gets drier. Maybe once the monsoon hits it won't be as restrictive. http://firerestrictions.us/az * *(1) Select a State; (2) Select an Area [Agency]; (3) Select a Unit [Ranger District, Park, Field Office, etc.]
Hey everyone. Want to go out and camp at burnt coral camp grounds off Apache. Do I need a special pass or does my annual pass cover me?

Here you go, this clears it up better: http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/tonto/passes-permits/recreation/?cid=fsbdev3_018751
Marvin F. replied:
"The Annual Tonto Discovery Pass or the national interagency pass, are not valid for overnight use at highly developed campgrounds such as Tortilla, Cholla, Windy Hill, Schoolhouse, and Burnt Corral campgrounds. Tonto daily passes are required at these sites."
Marvin F. replied:
If you camp in the campground at Lower Burnt Corral, there's a $12 fee payable there. A lot of people also camp in the dispersed area at Upper Burnt Corral but I believe that road is closed right now. It was closed when I went around Christmas. Upper Burnt Corral requires the blue cardboard Tonto Pass. The annual Tonto sticker is NOT sufficient, except for day use. David is right, it is rarely checked but the rules above are correct.

Derek, Payson has a lot of lakes that would work. If you have wheels, Bear Canyon is really nice and not nearly as busy.

Thanks for all the info! I think I'm going to try Willow Springs on Wednesday. Is trolling with small spoons the best for trout?
Randrew O. replied:
Lake Mary is hard to fish right now wait till October i was there last week water is pretty warm for those fish
Marvin F. replied:
Great. The trickier part of your request is a spot with camping lakeside. I know places with camping close but not quite lakeside. Willow Springs is a favorite for trout, largemouth and smallmouth. There are campgrounds closeby. Knoll Lake is more remote and the camping is very close. You can also camp at any pulllouts on the rim road, which is what I often do. Bear Canyon and Black Canyon, same thing. You can't camp on the lakes but close. In Show Low area, you have Fool Hollow which has campsites walkable to the lake. I fished there for bass yesterday but got skunked. Burnt Corral at Apache is lakeside but it will be hot there for another month or two.
