I may be a bit biased, but I've heard good things about Steel City Movers. For less biased opinions, ask former customers: Andrew Horowitz, Abigail Salisbury, Shifra Rosen, David Andrews, Elisheva Czeladnicki, Kayla Zuber =)

We hired Two Men & a Truck for a full apartment move (across the street haha)... without the truck! This was in Ohio, but doesn't hurt to find out for their pa locations.
Can anyone recommend a reliable mover with a van for a small, easy moving job? Trying for this Sunday, January 27. I prefer to support a community based business.

We used Friendly Movers, you have to rent your own UHaul, but they come and do all the heavy lifting and shlepping. They were great!

I recently did Dormont to North Shore with South Hills Movers. They were the cheapest I could find in the city and they did a great job.

Hi, if you are moving within the east coast, I strongly recommend [http://www.statetostatemove.com/](http://www.statetostatemove.com/moving-tips/) they are carriers, \[that means that you don't have to pay the extra comission for brokers, etc.\]. Right now I heard they have 5% off for long distance move.

I've seen a few people mentioning steel city movers, I went from Squirrel Hill to Edgewood a few years ago and those guys were unbelievable. In and out in less than 3 hours (tbf I didn't have a ton of stuff, but still) and they were incredibly friendly and cheap. Can't recommend them enough honestly

We've used South Hills Movers for several moves in the city and north hills over the years and have been very pleased.

I've used Don Farr moving twice now and absolutely zero complaints. They're affordable, quick, and reliable. Nothing like having your entire move done by 11 am without having lifted a finger.

We did a very short move in N. Oakland but I don't have the name handy of the company we used, I'll look it up when I get home.

Like I have mentioned in another related subreddit, a moving company may have multiple offices in different states of the US, and consumer’s experience can be very different depending on their location and company employees who were serving them. Moreover, if the company employs shift work, people can get different quality of service depending on the shift that was servicing them.
My advice is to first check [online reviews](https://www.pissedconsumer.com/moving-services/RT-G.html) about the companies that made your list (you’ll get there ratings of a bunch of moving companies to ease your decision making, and then use the common-sense precautions to minimize the risks of getting scammed:
1. **Demand to see the company’s legal documents**, license or permit that allows it to do business. Verify this information, if it’s possible, with legal specialists you trust.
2. **Visit the storage** you are planning to use in advance to check the conditions of storing and security.
3. **Check that the price** is included in the contract before you sign it.
4. Make sure that the **terms and conditions** are as have been previously agreed on.
5. **Check reviews** about the company.
