Hello lovely people of this group ;-)
I need a company or an individual who can help me obtain a Czech driver's license. I am, of course, willing to pay a bit extra if...
Susan O. replied:
Cost generally varies from 12,000-16,000 Kc. Ask the school if the cost for the translator during the driving test is included or if you pay extra for that service. Some include it, some don't. The cost for taking the actual driving test is 700 Kc. FYI, Czech law requires that you take 28 45-minute driving lessons at a driving school. You also have to have a medical checkup before you can start your driving lessons. 500 Kc. Once you have passed the exam, it takes about a month before you receive your license.
Going to have to get my Czech Driver's License and not looking forward to it.
Is there a good recommendation for the mandatory driver's school?
(minimum amount of BS,...
Tala M. replied:
Driving School Dejvice. They deal with foreigners, have English speaking instructors, and while I'm not sure what BS could possibly be entailed in getting a driver's license (No DMV scenarios here), aside from the instructor getting sick a couple of times, there was no hassle whatsoever.
David W. replied:
12 k might still be close to reasonable if all the fees are included, but much over that... Autoskolaking.cz posts their prices: http://www.autoskolaking.cz/ridicske-opravneni-b You might be able to work out a discount with your instructor, but I wouldn't guarantee it.

Luciangela Hudek There is, apparently, an agreement between RSA and EU regarding licence exchanges. It is a completely alien information to the police heere though. Will try to track down the exact act as i also need to do the same. Also, Is jy suid afrikaans? indien ja, van waar?

here are the czech rules - is the RSA a signatory to the treaties that are mentioned ? just because austria replaces RSA licences doesn't mean the Czech Rep must do so ... http://www.mvcr.cz/mvcren/article/third-country-nationals-is-my-license-valid-in-the-cr-may-i-do-i-have-to-replace-it-with-a-czech-driving-license.aspx
Veronika L. replied:
and based on the eu site, there are no EU-level agreements for drivers licences (http://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/vehicles/driving/validity/resident_en.htm) "If you have an EU driving licence that has been issued in exchange for a non‑EU licence in the country where you now live, and you wish to move to another EU country with your converted licence, you cannot assume that your new licence will be recognised there as this is up to each EU country. You will need to check with the local authorities in your new country which conditions apply for recognising non-EU licences."

Auto Skola King cheapest one I could find for 9500 kc. You can pay in installments + flexipasses and the lessons are in English. (this is for License A more than 25KW)
I got my driver's license through Autoskola King while I was pregnant and very emotional with me. Petr was great and I passed the test on the first try!
