Hello there,
any idea where to find cool and original house decoration in Prague? Something like...the opposite of Ikea?
Thanks

Depends on the money. If you want original but in the same price range as Ikea, you will end up with pretty much same stuff but worse design. If you invest more, you may try something like Snel furniture http://snel.cz/cs

There are some furniture bazaars in Holesovice area, under Libensky most, but I can't find any website :/ And these as well: http://www.firmy.cz/Obchody-a-obchudky/Bazary-a-zastavarny/Bazary-s-nabytkem/kraj-praha/praha-7?l=1

Also contact Henry Rott. He helps people move and often sells second hand furniture that his clients no longer want. He's got some furniture listed now on Prague/Buy/Sell/Trade.

I often sell my display items / 1 st designs for offers( i basically put them on classifieds sites all over and see what the response is like) I make most of them to take pictures / to market my designs. Keep an eye on my facebook if you're looking for something pretty, well made and lasts. All solid wood and you'll never see a screw head, nail head or bolt on my work :) https://www.facebook.com/katiesfurniture

There's a new second hand furniture store in Prague 7-Holesovice, near the Maniny stop. I haven't been there yet but it says 1,050 s.m. of used furniture. :) bazaranabytku.net

Michelle O'Harte, there is a huge 2 nd hand bazar at Nákladové Nádrazi Zizkov: http://www.stodola.cz/kontakt and there are 2 others there, one selling rather unrestored pieces and another one specialized in the design of 60-70 ies: http://www.retrofactory.cz/. and then there's another bazar in Karlín, on Sokolvska, close to Karlínske Námesti. You can make a nice bargain at these places if a Czech friend helps you with the translation otherwise they'll give you ridiculously high prices.

Susan L. Ondrasek, the one by Eden closed and moved to Holesovice, I was there 2 weeks ago, it was mostly Kika garbage and 3 antique pieces that were priced insanely high.

Unfortunately there is an IKEA thing going on in Czech, and it seems they doesn't value these old furnitures, but instead import newly made furnitures that has the shabby chic look. I once saw (by just passing by that day) a building where the basements was emptied from all sorts of great stuff, that was hammered into pieces, to fit the Van. The other side of this industry are those that have found out to get way to high prices for it to foreign antique buyers. You can actually buy that kind of stuff cheaper abroad than in cz. http/:www.lautrits.com

Those are Halabala design. Right now they are having a resurgence in popularity so the prices can be high. I was lucky to find that exact pair in a dump in near perfect condition minus the fabric. You might find some here: http://aukro.cz/listing/listing.php?string=halabala
