Optometrist that will give pupil distance So it's about time I get my eyes checked again, and I plan on buying a new pair of glasses online. I just want an optometrist...

Measuring PD is not hard if a friend helps. Mine prints it on the Rx. I just tell them I am travelling and want a copy of my Rx as a backup in case I need it while away. Never a problem.

I always tell them that I travel a lot and I'd like to have the 'scrip in case something happens to my glasses if I'm out of country. They all hand it over if you ask nicely.
I know you weren't also getting glasses, but when I got mine from Costco my order receipt has my PD on it so I can get more pairs!

I just had an eye exam at Costco an hour ago. The optometrist there is considered an "independent optometrist". I paid my $90 to her and had no obligation to actually order the glasses at Costco. I didn't ask for this measurement but she seemed really nice and would have probably given it to me. Fun fact, if you have group benefits from your employer and a vision exam isn't covered (which is the case with me), the exam is only $90 at Costco, as opposed to $110 at Pearle Vision and $120 at LensCrafters (or the other way around). Best part, you don't need a Costco membership. I can confirm, mine expired months ago and they didn't even ask to see my card anyway.

I got my prescription done at Walmart and my Pupillary distance as well. They charged $20.00 for the PD. Got a bit of a lecture in the process as well, but can't really blame them.

They tend not to give it to you, for just this reason. They hold your own measurement hostage so you have to buy their over-priced glasses. The best solutions I've found are: 1) Get a free Lasik consultation. Kiosk, Mall, etc.. They give it to you on the print-out. 2) Measure it yourself. Get a ruler and a friend. Give them the 400 yard stare.

[Kensington Eye Health Centre](http://www.eyehealthcentres.ca/eye-exams.html) charged $130 for a full checkup and exam, and they asked if I wanted to buy glasses online, they gave me a printout of my prescription right there.

Dr. Mallory Eisner, located in the Plus 15 by the BMO tower. She is great, professional, thorough and will add your PD to your measurement if you ask.

Use [Warby Parker's online/webcam PD measurement tool](https://pd.warbyparker.com/).

Call around and arrange upfront. If they say no, move on. I got my eyes tested, got the script, including PD with no issue. Optometrist was not close to downtown. Zennioptical.com optical has a video to measure PD yourself. http://www.zennioptical.com/howto#video01

Get a ruler, look in the mirror, close one eye and line up your pupil. Then switch eyes and take the measurement.

i found for measuring pupil distances if i put a post it note over top the first 1cm of the ruler so its got a vertical line going straight up and than using that to line up with the center of one pupil... helps me to measure the other side. Just remember to re add that 1cm that your covering!!!!!
http://www.stingyspecs.com.au/images/PD-diagram4.png like in this but shifted over 1cm with the red line on the eye on the right being formed by a post it note stuck to the ruler.. i guess its like creating a mini T square and just visually centering the line...
ive also never had any issues getting a prescription from anywhere ive had an eye exam. i simply tell them im not ready to make a decision yet as i need to see what my next paycheck looks like and also want a copy to pack the optical notes away with your travel bags in case you lose your glasses while traveling.
Its YOUR data they cant keep you from it, if you see them writing it down on paper and skip numbers ask them why they are not writing those down with it.
