If you find anyone good, let us all know. Contractors here in Dallas I've found are terrible. I don't know how anyone gets any work done around here.

We faced the same thing. It's maddening.

Fuck I came to the comments hoping for answers for my best friend. Every one he has found has been worthless. He has had to have most jobs redone.

I've used [Coxco remodeling](http://www.coxcogc.com/). They've been around for a good while, but as far as I can tell, John Cox is still the only sales guy. You know that old saying, "Good, fast, cheap - pick any two?" John's guys do good work, and I haven't had any schedule overruns. Get out your checkbook:-) In one case, John did lower his bid to match a competing bid. I would NOT go with Statewide Remodeling. [This guy's experience](https://www.reddit.com/r/Dallas/comments/2 btt7 x/statewide_remodelings_high_pressure_sales_job/) pretty well matches mine.

I would suggest doing what I did. Check YouTube for some how-to videos, as well as, talk to people at hardware stores. I've successfully installed hardwood flooring, carpet, tile, toilets, walls, counters and cabinets. YouTube is also how I learned to rebuild engines.

Check out Coxco http://www.coxcogc.com/contact.html They have a solid reputation from all the people I have talked to and all the research I have done on my own because I am looking to do some home remodeling stuff as well so I did a lot of searching so far.

i almost feel guilty for suggesting this. if it's not kosher, just dv to oblivion, but.. my uncle is a contractor and does great work all over Dallas. [here](http://imgur.com/a/CIah3) is an album of the only house i have decent pictures of. [here](http://www.bgrontheweb.com/job%20 samples.htm) is his embarrassingly horrible website right now, but some good samples of his work. it hasn't been updated for almost 2 years, but some good stuff on there as well. most of his work has been more modern lately, and his website only touches that style.
In big need of some advice here...

My father in law, Don Penny, would be glad to help with counter tops. His number is (214) 597-4264. Please explain what has happened to your mother and he'll save the day!
