Can anyone recommend a physical therapist in San Diego who specializes in injuries caused by or made worse by playing musical instruments?

When I was taking voice lessons my teacher took a bunch of us to do a one-day class with this woman. I know she has been around practicing in the area for years. http://alexandertechniquesandiego.mymobilebuilder.com/
Linda E. replied:
And of course my beloved physical therapist. He doesn't particularly specialize in musicians as far as I know, but bodies is bodies. http://hoeckpt.com/

A good Chiropractor should be able to assist as well. I recommend Old Town Chiropractic / Dr. Brad Thompson He's THE BEST!
Stephane R. replied:
I'd second and third the recommendations for the Alexander Technique. Would recommend Eileen Troberman in Leucadia in a heartbeat, she helped me through my tendonitis many years ago, a wonderful person and friend. or Alex Watts who is also a musician.
Eileen T. replied:
Hi Michael, I'm Eileen Troberman, the Alexander Technique teacher. I've worked with at least one Uillean Pipes recording artist and he found it very helpful to get rid of and prevent pain in his pumping arm and was able to play with a lot less tightn ess and more freedom and stamina in movement for playing. I'd be happy to work with you. You can learn more about me through my website: www.AlexanderTechniqueSanDiego.com
Alex W. replied:
And here's my website, in case you want to take a look. Thank you for the mention, Stephane Ryder . www.theexpandingself.com
Bill T. replied:
Mike, look for a chiropractor who uses the Graston technique. http://www.grastontechnique.com/ASynopsis.html
Peter R. replied:
You might try Chris Siegel. I saw her recently for arm pain and she/we figured out a set of exercises which have cured my problem. Chris Siegel <chrissiegel2001@gmail.com>. She sees a lot of triathletes/ swimmers/ runners at her house near Lake Miramar, no doubt she could relate to mechanics of Uilleann pipes bellows.
Michael E. replied:
What's odd is that I was just doing some stretches on my shoulder, heard a fairly distinct "pop" and now the pain is gone. This happened once before before I re-injured it about a month ago playing pipes for 90 minutes at The Ould Sod. So, progress, but I need to get this sorted out if I'm ever to play pipes regularly again.
Elaine T. replied:
San Diego Sports Medicine doesn't specialize in music but they're extremely good with athletic injuries and I doubt they'd be out of their comfort zones with a bellows demo. Lee Ralph is the best doctor I've ever had the good fortune to run across and I'd strongly recommend him. If you can't get in to see Dr. Ralph, Dr. Roeher and Dr. Anthony are quite good to.

Check eBay sold listings to get an idea on value. I would just list them on Craigslist/eBay and keep bringing the price down until you get some interest. After all, the instruments are worth what someone else is willing to pay rather than what an appraiser thinks they are worth.
