I've had Mike Hatcher at Hatcher's make some custom lenses for me. Road glasses are small with a dime size bifocal in the lower right corner of the right lens only so I can read my insulin pump. Mountain bike glasses are custom oversize to keep brush out of my eyes and single vision so I can judge the roots better. 2 x magnifiers for soldering printed circuits. He can make whatever you need.
Hoping for a recommendation for somewhere I can get a really thorough eye exam, but not an optician. Maybe an ophthalmologist ? Thanks, all!

Bob's ophthalmologist Dr Feldman off of balboa by the 5. Very good Dr. Through checkup. Sharp Pavilion, up next to Sharp hospital, also has a very nice lady Dr she did a great job on my eye exam last spring. Our Medicare, Sharp Community referred us to Dr at. Sharp. But Medicare insurance secondary companies pay all but $35 co-pay

If you have insurance, go to your regular doctor and they should refer you which should make your ophthalmologist visits covered under insurance. Especially with obamacare/medi-cal. I go see Dr. Goldman but he's all the way down in Chula Vista.

Have an appointment at Family Vision Care tomorrow. ..didn't have a very great experience at Newport Optometry. Overpriced...not as thorough an exam as I would have liked. Personable, but not that knowledgeable, imo.

Family vision care in clairemont. Dr sneag is a behavioral optometrist which means his goal is to keep your prescription from changing. Their pretesting machines can take a picture of your retina so that you do not have to be dilated and are extremely thorough/top of the line. One machine even checks for diabetes. Dr. Langford is also amazing in that office. They also will check visual skills and make sure your eyes move together and accurately especially if eye fatigue is a major problem for you. An optician cannot do eye exams, these are optometrists, and opthamologists do eye exams but they are surgeons and often aren't as thorough unless you have a specific pathology or disease.
