Looking to sell my car to a dealer, any places I should avoid? Any recommendations? Trying to sell a VW that is costing me more than I'd like to keep up. I'm trying to...

Since you have a VW, whatever you do, please, please, take my advice: DO NOT GO TO BOSTON VOLKSWAGEN IN WATERTOWN. Worst company I have ever dealt with in my entire life. Story available if you want it.

Have you tried CarMax? I've never used them but have heard good things- there's one in North Attleboro.
aoethrowaway replied:
I would stick with Craigslist, you'll be throwing away at 10-20% of the cost by selling to a dealer. I suggest just getting the car detailed, take some nice pics, list it at blue book value on craigslist and you'll be good to go.

I sold my jeep to these guys http://www.citymotorgroup.com Definitely got lower than private party sale, but it was easy, quick, no nonsense and had an official bank check and didn't have to worry about anyone lemon lawing me in case something went wrong.

Use Craigslist! I sold my 2003 Ford Focus to someone off there, and got way more than I was going to get at the Subaru place where I was buying my next car. Someone mentioned meeting in a public place, and I couldn't agree more. Meet at a parking lot with your bank, so you can deposit the money there right away, and then you just sign your title over. Easy peasy, and you'll make more than using any dealership!
sheepjeepxj replied:
unless the dealer is selling you a car they will try and give you the low end for the price to try and maximize their profit on the car (this also true when doing a trade depending on the level of sleaziness of the dealer). craigslist can be easy and you do it all yourself but you just have to prepared to wade through the odd and strange people that live on craigslist but you can get a few extra bucks and not that much extra effort. in either case make sure you have the title in hand because if you misplace it can take up a month for the state to issue you a new one

Carmax will give you more for your car than anybody. They won't try to pressure you either. You can say no and they won't bother you.

Are you trying to get ripped off? That is the worst way to make money on a used car.
Anonymous replied:
Just drive to some places and see what they offer you. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter how sketchy they seem, they are giving you the money so it doesn't matter.

I sold my car not too long ago, went to a few places and wasn't happy with the result. I went to John's Auto Sales in Somerville. They're great, small family run business, they've been there forever. They gave me the $ I was looking for! johnsautosales.com

try van nuys, lots of large volume dealerships. remember some dealers like bob smith bmw in calabasas won't give loaners for warranty work on cars they didn't sell directly.

I should have clarified not a brand new car. Was thinking 07-09 audi

Please check the Better Business Bureau and look at ratings.

Autotrader.com is your friend. Ask questions and negotiate by email first before you go in to the dealer. Take the car to a good Audi mechanic (try Yelp) to get it checked before you buy. Good luck!

Bob smith BMW is where we buy our cars and have for years. Ask for Ryan (he is sometimes out with vertigo but he's a good guy!)

Meraki, cloud based AP's, the cloud controller is super handy giving you simple setup, full meshing and gps style map using GMaps for referencing where each AP is and the range of the broadcast

If you want cloud-based, another thing to look at is Aerohive.

Check out Aerohive Networks http://www.aerohive.com/ Cloud Based Controller, great pricing and support.

Ubiquity or Ruckus.. both have centralized management systems you can use and control all the APs. We run Ubnt and have great results with them. We love them. Also depending on the density, get the Unify AP AC devices, the AC will give you way better throughput and cover more space, they cost more but they are worth it on capacity and not dealing with congestion. If you want a demo/show of the ubnt central system I can show you ours via webex or something.

I know this is a bad word in this sub but if budget is of little concern I would go Cisco APs and a Cisco Wireless LAN controller to control them all.
