I'm looking for recommendations for a really good laser eye surgeon. Have you had the surgery? Did you love your doctor? I've been approved and I have been wanting this...
Jp P. replied:
I second the recommendation for Dr. Faktorovich. I did take a slight hit on my near vision, but other than that my experience was better than average: no more astigmatism and 20/10 vision. PVI's follow-up care was fastidious and caring. If you were approved for the basic LASIK (and not one of the more complicated procedures) I'd say this one's a no-brainer.
Gina F. replied:
if you want the best: Dr. Faktorovich http://www.pacificvision.org/ Pacific Vision Institutewww.pacificvision.org Offering laser eye surgery by San Francisco and South Bay area eye surgeons.
Getting LASIK. Can anyone recommend a great Bay Area doctor?
Kevin F. replied:
I didn't find them, but I think it's very rare and considered a non issue if you aren't an athlete or martial artist or something. I just think it's sort of important for people getting LASIK to acknowledge that it turns your eyes into well sited open wounds. I got LASIK, not PRK, from Newman at http://www.newmanlasik.com/. He seems like the best of the discount LASIK shops in the Bay Area.
Paul B. replied:
i went with http://www.pacificvision.org/ - they are pricy and i can't say if they are better than someone cheaper, but i have better than 20/20 vision with zero problems. honestly i think the surgeon is probably less important than the hygiene and po...See More

http://eyelaser.stanford.edu/ Had Edward Manche do it for me back in 1999. Good experience, expensive at the time.
Anyone in the Bay Area have an amazing Lasik Doc recommendation? Thinking this is the year I ditch contacts forever...
Ruba B. replied:
http://www.pacificvision.org/. As Dru said, was back at work the same day. Procedure took 2 mins, recovery 4 hours, vision 20/20. Best decision ever. Overall improved eye health. Happy to give more details, but highly recommend the doctor. She does the 49 ers eyes too!
Keith E. replied:
Dr. Faktorovich at Pacific Vision Institute. I did it four years ago - life changing. All the interactions I had with PVI were professional and positive. Shoot me an email at keadie AT gmail if you want more info.

My wife (and several people at Square including Eric Firestone) went to Dr. Craig Bindi in San Jose. She only has great things to say about the results.
Kelly T. replied:
Dr McLeod at UCSF. Expensive but really good
George F. replied:
Dr. Thomas clinch is the best doctor in the country. He is here in dc. He has done countless celebs, Allison and I and even the First Lady.
Kaitlyn N. replied:
George Fowler preferably one that doesn't require me to fly across the country
Chin L. replied:
I got mine done with Dr. Faktorovich at Pacific Vision- close to you- no complaints- still 20/20 after 8-9 years
Any Lasik recommendations in the Peninsula? Thanks :D :D :D
Gina M. replied:
Dr. Steve Hyver is great! He came highly recommended by my opthalmologist. He worked on my eyes about 6 years ago.
Gina M. replied:
Scott Hyver is the doctor who works with the Niners. He worked on Bill Walsh's eyes too.
Mike M. replied:
Yep, and I'm still filling the hole Dr. Hyver burned in my wallet!! LOL! Why didn't we get 49'er tickets??
Esther J. replied:
In Newport Beach, but Dr. Tom Tooma is the best. He did Tiger Woods, Diane Feinstein, some pro racers, oh yeah, and mine too! The best money I ever spent!
Anyone have a recommendation for a LASIK surgeon, preferably in San Francisco or Oakland?
Ulysses D. replied:
Dr Factorivich at 1 Daniel Burnham Court at Van Ness - she is the best of the best. she was able to give me 20/15 vision. tell her i recommended you to her
Christine L. replied:
There's Scott Hyver too. Dewey got his done by him. Two of my other friends as well and they all love it. He also went and got a consult with Dr. Factorivich. But decided to go with Hyver with no regrets. Good luck!
Those of you who have had refractive surgery, what do you recommend? Considering LASIK, photorefractive keratectomy (PRK), Visian ICL, refractive lens exchange and...
Christian L. replied:
Most of my friends have taken LASIK and were very pleased. The refractive surgery is generally a very safe intervention with very few complications and also goes very fast - like 15 min for each eye. Generally LASIK is the most popular, but some persons are not always suitable for LASIK and therefor need PRK or other options. I know that there is also LASEK which sort of combines LASIK and PRK. Best is of course to ask your ophtalmologist if you find one. Good luck!
Cragg N. replied:
I'm looking into the same (PRK) and heard good things with Pacific Vision Institute in SF
