Masha I am so sorry to hear this! I had the same thing happen two years ago, I had surgery here in SF, at SPOSM, CA Pacific Orthopedics and Sports Medicine (at CPMC), dr Mayle Jr., no complaints and they were really helpful (I was pregnant at the time with Fedor) .

Yes the best orthopedic surgeon in SF is John Schubert. He works at Kaiser French Campus on Geary St world renowned did surgery on my broken ankle

I broke my ankle last year and saw Dr. Kirstina Olson at UCSF Foot and Ankle Clinic. I didn't need surgery but she's a great doctor and a surgeon and I recommend her. I can also recommend a Physical Therapist for when you get to that point. Let me know if you need more info. So sorry that happened to you.

Masha, Ortho is my other life, and perhaps I can give some suggestions. Can you send XRays by photo and what kind of insurance do you have? Generally ankle surgery is routine, and well done by any Orthopedic Surgeon with some experience. Let me know if I can help and sorry for your injury.

I highly recommend Dr. Norman Chung, whose office is in Hayward. He's hip to acupuncture & chiropractic, which is rare for a surgeon! More important, he told me I DON'T NEED surgery, so he's not anxious to cut and explore as some are. (I have sports & dance injuries).
