We are two days away from moving to Point Loma and found out our dog has cancer. Can anyone recommend a vet that handles this kind of issue. We were told today the tumor...

Veterinary Specialty Hospital on Sorrento Valley Rd.

Sunset Cliffs Animal Hospital, Dr. Traversi or Dr Berg. 619-224-0773. They are off Sunset Cliffs Blvd on Santa Monica. We had 2 dogs with cancer and they are wonderful!
Pat C. replied:
Just remember you can get at least three greats and three "bads" re: any Vet Clinic. The size and breed of your dog are significant factors to consider. A Vet may be highly competent on a 20LB dog and not at knowledgeable dealing the different physiology of a 200LB Great Dane.
Bridget F. replied:
Dr. Mullen or Dr. Sartor (both surgeons) at VCA Emergency Animal Hospital and Referral Center in Mission Valley. Dr. Ford at this same hospital is an internal medicine specialist and does chemotherapy if you were thinking of going that route.
Juli G. replied:
Dr Traversi at Sunset Cliffs Animal hospital is so absolutely wonderful! We have 3 yellow labs who he takes the best care of! My husband and I love him. As do our friends! He is so kind and has the most amazing way with our dogs!

Many local vets refer difficult cases to Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Hospital in Sorrento Valley: http://www.vshsd.com. They are affiliated with UC Davis, have a highly regarded oncology department among other specialties. Excellent advanced care.
Kelly P. replied:
Dr. Rose at Cabrillo Vet! So sorry! Hoping a full recovery lies ahead!
Patricia D. replied:
So sorry to hear about your dog's cancer. Dr. Monica Hambalko at VCA Point Loma on Voltaire #619-223-7146 was instrumental in helping me this year with my beloved Divit. Dr. was the most sensitive veterinarian I have known.
Wendy M. replied:
Dr Gary Rose at Cabrillo Vet Hospital in Voltaire is great. He's performed three surgeries on my tiny Yorkie over the last seven years with great success, although not related to cancer. Good luck with your pup where ever you decide to go
Gina S. replied:
Dr. Tugend is wonderferl
Lindsay W. replied:
Veterinary Specialty is awesome if you can see Dr Philips and her team (AMAZING). The other oncology dr (radiation) is awful and I would steer clear. Best wishes to you and your family - I'm sorry you have to have surgery on your pup!
Lynda P. replied:
Sunset Cliffs Animal Hospital has the best Vet team. Kindness is their specialty.
Meryl F. replied:
I agree about Dr. Gary Rose at Cabrillo Vet Hospital on Voltaire Street. We've been going to him for over 10 years. Their number is 619-225-9684. Good luck!

I had top surgery about 3 weeks ago with Dr. Brian Eichenberg in Murrieta, CA. There aren't many pictures online, but he showed me a ton during our consultation and liked what I saw. I am very pleased with my results. I really liked him and his staff is great. If you have any questions or want to see any pictures just let me know!
CatDadTom replied:
Dr. Crane did mine in Austin. Great work, no drains, healed fast, no dog-ears, and all that is impressive because I had DDs at *least.*
