I’m terrible at getting gifts for people, so help a girl out?!
I had some supervisors of mine write...

I work in my state’s EI program, so I know how awesome SLPs can be. Also, I know of some great books and things that would be a nice gift for some practicing SLPs. How about a “gift basket” with some handy therapy ideas- bubbles, board books, photo cards, and a self-care item like a candle/eye mask/bottle of wine.

Small cacti for their desks!

Hi are you me? I did something similar for the supervisors who wrote me recommendations for grad school about 20 years ago. The only difference was my supervisors were both men. I went to the local florist and picked out a plant for each of them and then paid to have them delivered. Both of them were appreciative of the gift and it turns out the one was delivered on his wedding anniversary. Congrats and best of luck in grad school. Oh and if you are me, you will rock it in grad school and finish with a 4.0

That's an awesome idea! Thanks for the contest! You could do a a bag of nice coffee and a cute mug or a bottle of wine and cute wine glass :)
ChanguitaShadow replied:
I think it is so awesome you're doing this! For something like this, the gift should be an appropriate size- not too much and nothing *too* personal.
The one speech pathologist I know very well has worked for my dad's company almost 20 years- especially with developmentally challenged kids. She's *so* kind and patient and has to have a good sense of humor to get through some difficult days. I don't know exactly the sort of individuals they work with, but I would gather these women are all very sweet and patient too!
So what's an appropriate gift for a thank you of this level? Send the sweet ladies* something sweet and maybe a little funny too! A good candy assortment (chocolates, taffies, or maybe jelly bellies) and something for their desks, like a funny daily calendar or a fancy pen would be both budget appropriate and match the gift they gave you. Of course, a hand-written note/card should go with it!
Congratulations on finishing this chapter of your life! Good luck in grad school, you'll do awesome!

I'm all for personalized gifts, but I will say if I'm ever at an absolute loss, I will get a giftcard to somewhere I know they like/shop at or a giftcard to somewhere it will be useful regardless i.e Kroger, gas station, Amazon, etc. BUT, then I include a very personal heartfelt note or card of some sort so it still is meaningful. Hope that can potentially help if you dont find something through this contest, although I'm sure you will bc we have some amazing thoughtful people here

I found this on Etsy... it’s super cool and unique! It’s the sound waves for the words “speech language pathologist “. https://etsy.me/2VJ3 wkb

I’d lean on the side of experience/pampering or consumable gifts versus stuff. Maybe a pedi, massage, lunch at a fancy local spot, or theater tickets if they like the theater.
coffeeTERRIERShockey replied:
A selection of teas from a nice company and a nice mug to drink them from. I’m not sure where you are, but the company Uncommon Goods has some fun unique gift ideas. If they are cooks at all, a nice spice collection. Best of luck and I too, suffer from gift giving struggle. You’ll do great.

I think a nice planner would be a good gifts. It's always a good feeling to have a fresh planner and it helps stay organized.

Little gift baskets with a variety of items are always a lot of fun! You could have an interesting book, a nice pen set, some high quality soaps/lotions/facemasks, different kinds of candy, and a cute succulent (like these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079RKPQSP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ST2SCbZMD7CKW) for the center piece of the basket.

You could pick up a cute mug (dollar stores usually have some) and $5 Starbucks gift card. You could add a chocolate bar or something too.

Mug or wine glasses with something witty and home health/speech related, a good quality candle, their favorite candy and a bag of popcorn with maybe a redbox rental for them to have a fun night in, a nice reusable shopping bag/tote.

My go to gift is usually a Starbucks or local coffee spot gift card and a travel mug.

A sound wave print of "thank you"

A fountain pen might be a good gift. There are a lot of nice ones that aren't terribly expensive. Consumables like candy, beverages, stationary, coffee or tea, etc, could be paired up with small gifts like blankets, books, and socks.

Travel coffee mugs with a starbucks(or other coffee shop) gift card inside.

I am always a fan of just straight up flower delivery. Sometimes they come with cookies and the like too! Also check out [Boxfox](boxfox.com). They have very nicely done professional-looking boxes you can build for folks. I use them all the time for people out of town.

I'd say something maybe like a little potted plant or a succulent thing or something like that for their desks, thats kinda a universally good gift they can admire, or maybe a gift card somewhere. I like the plant idea honestly the best, cant think of one better lol.

Speech Therapist themed coffee mugs and a box of coffee dunker donuts or cookies that are yummy to dunk in coffee.

I'm guessing as a SPL there are a lot of notes to deal with and a lot of time spent at the computer, so either a cute kind of office supply or a cute fake plant to brighten up their space would go over well.
So I found this mug on Etsy and I think it's really adorable and might actually fit? https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/536497488/everyone-deserves-a-voice-mug-speech And this one on Amazon is cute too Gift for SLP - Badass Miracle Worker isn't Official Job Title Funny Unique Novelty Gag Gift Idea for Speech Language Pathologist Friend Colleague Birthday Christmas 11 oz Coffee Mug Tea Cup Humorous https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077YBJF6M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_rm2SCbZSK6M41

Gifts of tea and self care are fantastic. I love to give my favorite tea as a gift. It's personal and shares part of you with them.

Everyone loves blankets. Can’t go wrong with blankets.
BigAcadia replied:
Get them little self care kits, like sheet masks or clay masks etc that they can use to pamper themselves with! I personally love steam eye masks, they heat up to a comfortable temperature and you leave them on for 15 min! They're really soothing and a great way to end the day or even just take a little break in the middle of work. Given their career I'm sure they work really hard and everyone should be reminded that they deserve some pampering once in a while :)
lionfamily replied:
If they are all in different cities sometimes flower deliveries are easy and you can include a thank you. Also cookie deliveries or those fruit baskets. Even a 5-10 dollar coffee gift card would be an awesome thank you !
faerylin replied:
Small gift cards are always appreciated. $5 gift cards are great for their favorite lunch places or for a treat. You can give them a few if you want but I know having a gift card for when I want to go out always makes me smile. That’s also what we give our teachers and they love them.
Also saw these on amazon and thought they would be cute to hand out.

Don’t know if these are appropriate but the saying is so cute and they have it on other things like mugs, key chains etc.

Or they make so many cute badge holders. It’s something useful that they might enjoy. Otherwise at the end of the day some nice chocolate is always appreciated. If you buy online Godiva always has coupons, specials and freebies.
Congrats on grad school!!

In addition to a thank you note, I like to include a small treat. The more local, the better. For example, near my hometown is an orchard that makes delicious [chocolate covered cherries.](https://www.chukar.com/) I'll mention they're locally made, a personal favorite, and that I think they'd enjoy them too. Whatever you choose to get them doesn't have to be big. It's the heartfelt, sincere note with it that makes the biggest difference :)

Almost everyone appreciates a nice bottle of wine.

Hmmm, I'm going to TRY.. Customized Starbucks or Large tumbler from like Etsy? Maybe go and customize like on VistaPrint or whatever some snazzy business cards using their professional info and send them a small box. Sometimes the company will provide them, but if so do something more "fun"? or if not then awesome, they now have their own business card!
alltheboops replied:
what about a movie and dinner night? you can give them a gift card for the movies and they have like broad stroke gift cards for restaurants where you can get a gift card for a bunch of different restaurants!

Do you know any genres or things they like? Maybe they would love a book by their favorite author or about their favorite subject?

A gift card with a nice note would be a nice gift!
Moonarific replied:
I would send them some nice office supplies. But not the generic kind but the fun kind. The kind that suits their personality. One might be feminine so I'd send florals to her. One might be bubbly and love dogs so I'd send animal themed supplies. One might be masculine so I'd send more traditional supplies. But I'd try to send the type of supplies that make a person smile at work. Something that goes beyond what they might have on a regular basis. Along with a nice thank you letter and maybe a book store gift card.
We're looking for a speech therapist closer to home. Any recommendations for speech therapists near Queen Anne, Ballard, or Magnolia? Thanks

Kate Pilant on Queen Anne has my vote as well. She specializes in a method that works awesome for kids with a physical issue vs a cognitive one (tongue thrust, weak jaw, etc). Of course she's also great with cognitive issues as well I'm sure.
