I've known Dr. Sachdev (now at River Valley Animal Center) for over 20 years ... we have used his practice for our animals since 1993 when he was in Windsor... great vet and committed to taking care of animals! and I just met Dr. Kaleta today and she seems just as wonderful. So glad we have options!
Just adopted a dog. Need to get him neutered... ASAP!!! I received a quote from my local vet of 700$ and at least 3 weeks... Anyone know of anything earlier and possible...

New England Veterinary Center or Tufts
Peggy C. replied:
Tufts Vet Hopital is not in Boston, that is the University. It is in North Grafton. You take MA Pike exit 11. It is a little less than an hour and thirty minutes from Suffield.
Jackie M. replied:
with a serious illness I would go to Tufts in Boston. http://tuftsvets.org/
Elizabeth H. replied:
I don't know what you're dealing with, but in general.... You have to advocate for your dog. It is very difficult for doctors to say "we can't fix this". I've found this to be true for human and animal doctors. You have to read between the lines and do your own research when you have a diagnosis. My Labrador suffered for 9 days. Despite asking for honesty, it took 9 days, and pinning the doctor with the right questions to get the honest answers. I also recommend Tufts, you don't have to go all the way to Boston. Suffield Vet is the best! Very caring. When our dog passed away they were so compassionate. They even made a donation in Beasley's memory to Protectors of Animals which is a no-kill organization whose mission is to increase the quality of all dogs and cats in our communities.

Salmon Brook. My husband and I have been using them for about 2 yrs. I just lost my husband in January and our dog Trooper wasn't walking. I thought I was going to have to put him down. But Dr. Violet saw him treated him and gave me all the medicine I needed with NO charge!!! Trooper is doing wonderful!! But NO one ever is like that anymore. I never expected that!! They are wonderful personal non-judgmental people. Highly recommend!! There prices are also very reasonable.

I've never taken my dogs to anyone other than Suffield Vet for normal care. So I don't know, sorry.
I go to East Springfield Vet Hospital (it's really not that far, Page Blvd in Springfield). All the doctors and staff are excellent but we see Dr. Bill Anderson who is a Suffield resident and has had family here for many generations. They go above and beyond and often suggest the more inexpensive route when trying to decide what to do...they tell me what they would do if it were their pet. I trust them completely.

I would suggest you visit Dr. Sachdev and his staff https://www.facebook.com/464273513918165River Valley Animal Center The facility is amazing and state of the art in boarding, equipment, technology, and staff. Our experiences with Suffield Vet have been that they are over-priced, difficult to get into see on short notice, and do not provide emergency care.

Thanks everyone! We moved out here in 2003 and switched from colchester vet to Suffield vet for our black lab who ended up having several bouts of malignant tumors. I will never go back to Suffield after they released my lab after surgery in a bloody shirt. .anyway Southwick has been amazing for our dogs the last 12 years...yes they are now a corporation. I have heard dr Pennington in Windsor or the other one in Simsbury. Thanks. I have lost 2 of my beloved dogs in 2013 and 2014 and now have my 3 rd lab Maggie who is 15 mos old and I am very over protective and on a tight budget. Thanks everyone! !!

I take my yellow lab to Bolton Vet, the best vet hospital ever! They saved my labs life and they are very compassionate. Ashley Caswell dog was saved by them after VCA did a terrible job and VCA took a lot of money from her. It's a half hour drive for me but it's worth it for my dog.

LOVE Suffield Vet but, if the practice you are at has a front staff that helps accommodate your dogs needs and another vet is recommended - I'd try them first:)

If you are looking for spaying/ neutering, there is a Mobile Vet, that comes to the parking lot of the Enfield Petco. That is called T.E.A.M. They also do shots at the same time. Also, there are Vets that come to Tractor Supply in Enfield and Dave’s Pet Food in Agawam. They offer shots and worming. All of those are less expensive than a Vet who has a regular office. Also, you might try Dakin, In. Springfield. They are more like a SPCA, so they might be less expensive.
