don't go to DeSonnier he's an ass, he threw my husband out of the hospital because he got a food tray and it was the nurses fault, it wasn't like he could go fix it himself. We go to his ex-partner (yeah he couldn't stand him either) Dr. Ellender. He was great. But if you need immediate relief try the mucinex nose spray( you can get it at Walgreens) it has helped my husband who suffers from allergies.

Dr. Darby. I had a high risk pregnancy, and he was great. He is very nice, and really good at what he does. He delivered my twins by c section. He was very patient with me while they were prepping me for my emergency c section, at 33 weeks. I was scared to death, and he kept telling me that everything was OK, and had me laughing a little at his jokes. He was just trying to make me not panic. During the pregnancy, my first, he told me from the beginning that no question was silly or not worth asking 24 7. I would recommend him to anyone. I would also use him again. I was on Medicaid for my pregnancy. I think he still sees Medicaid patients.
Lindsay F. replied:
Dr Grimshaw at Gauthier Women & Childrens. Love him, love his staff. He always took any of my concerns seriously, made me feel comfy. Only con, he has large hands and no one ever warned me how doctors check your cervix.
Steph R. replied:
Dr. Darby is my favorite. My daughter-in-law used Dr Stelly in Lake Charles & absolutely loved him. I went with her to most of her appointments and I really liked him too.
Ashley C. replied:
I love Prestia & McAlpine, but they don't accept Medicaid. Dr. McKinney is really good if you want a Medicaid-accepting doctor.

Dr Scroggs! See Tammy. So awesome
Christine S. replied:
I would say no to Allison Hansen. She's very popular around here just because she's in town and is always taking new patients but if you can avoid getting her, I would! I find that she is very blunt and not in a good way. Very rude. Terrible bedside manners IMO. And I also wasn't a fan of seeing a woman. Made me uncomfortable. I have seen Dr. Bergstedt and would recommend him the most! I also finished off my pregnancy with Dr. Fontenot at Lake Area and honestly have nothing good or bad to say about him. He did his job. Nothing more, nothing less!
Shelly B. replied:

Dr. McKinney at Gauthier campus. She's awesome. She made me feel comfortable and listened to my wishes for labor and delivery. I saw Dr. Huynh there for the first 6-7 months before she went on maternity leave. She was wonderful too. Zero negative experience with both and both take Medicaid.

I had Dr. James Brown for 2 of my pregnancies. Love him. He was very patient and listened to all of my concerns about my prior loss and subsequent pregnancies. When my oldest had heart problems and was in the NICU, his office called to check on me and he even came by the NICU to check on her afterwards. When I was concerned that my othrer child would have heart problems like my oldest, he listened and got me the referrals to a specialist to be sure.

Dr. Darbonne. He is at LCMW. Awesome bedside manner, extremely professional and takes wonderful care of his patients and babies. He genuinely loves babies. Anyone else in practice with Dr. Darbonne I would also recommend- Dr. Scroggs or Groves. I had to see both of them at separate times for emergencies after delivery and they were wonderful.

Dr. Groves was my doctor for my first baby and he was very nice and listened to my concerns but Dctr darbonne delivered him and did an awesome job for someone who wasn't aware of size and all for a natural delivery. Dr. Semien was my Dctr for my second baby I had actually been given Dr. McKinney first and switched to Semien bcuz I was uncomfortable with the way she handled our visits and then she ended up handling my c section. My child came out strong and healthy but there were some things I wasn't comfortable with how she handled my birth!!

I have BCBS & I’ve been going to Dr. Devillier on Maplewood for over 2 years now & even switched my daughter over to her. I also learned that a few of my neighbors also see her & we all love her. Sometimes the wait can be up to 30-45 minutes, but not often. I believe the reason for that is bc she actually takes the time to listen to her patients & she asks questions to help figure out what’s going on with you. If it’s something simple of course, you’re in & out. I’ve had several PCPs between here & LC over the years, but she was the first one that sat & listened, actually believed me, didn’t rush me, took my symptoms & complaints seriously & put them together. She told me her thoughts, sent me to a specialist & I finally started getting answers. Bc of her, I’m now being treated for a life threatening A.I. disorder. Dr. Devillier saved my life by being the doctor they all pledge to be, but sadly, many lose sight of. Sorry for the long comment, but I know from experience just how important it is to have the right dr. I hope this helps!!!

Sharon J. replied:
I worked in the medical field in Lake Charles for 35 years. Do not use Dr. Gunderson. Any spinal surgery should be done by neurosurgeon since that spine is attached to your brain. If you can't go out of state, Dr. E. Wolf is your best option.
Angee H. replied:
My daughter and I see Dr. Peter Campbell at Spine Institute of Louisiana in Shreveport. He is a wonderful Neurosurgeon. Young, but extremely knowledgeable and careful. We love him.
Corinne B. replied:
I tore my vertebrae sacks which let all the fluid it of 3 vertebrae several years ago . Dr Craig Morton did epidural injections at imperial . He's in center for Orthopedic's on imperial blvd. He only does non surgical technique meaning he doesn't do surgery . He also doesn't write pain meds . He's done several epidural injections for me and also my hubby and mother in law . They were successful . However he can't fix other things I have wrong with my back . Due to a disease I have I cannot have back surgery with rods pins or screws as my body will reject, but the epidural do make my life more manageable and helps me cut back on my pain meds .

How come doctors who accept Medicaid so few and far between? Here is why: For example, a doctor bills $200 for a procedure. (A single doctor visit could include dozens of procedure numbers so don't get caught up into those yet) THAT one procedure could have a Medicare allowable of $100.00 The Medicaid allowable will be $75.00. Medicare sends the doctor an $80 payment (MC is 80/20- 80% insurance payment 20% patient responsibility or supplement insurance payments). Medicare then forwards their payment info to Medicaid and Medicaid pays the claim at $0.00. Yes zero dollars is a payment to Medicaid insurance. Here is what happens, back office stuff... Medicaid figures Medicare paid you more than you would get from the state ($80 vs $75) so Medicaid pays at zero dollars and the Medicare approved provider writes off 20% of his approved bill because of the low income status of his patient. Now imagine the patient with out Medicare! A doctors income could be cut 40% to 60% from any contracts he has with other patients and insurance companies. If a doctor needs to reduce his work load to have a life outside of his office, which insurance are you going to take, private insurance paying 120% more than Medicare or one that pays 60% of Medicare? Why the reference to Medicare Randy? All my insurance contracts or "connected" to Medicare fee schedule. When Congress makes an adjustment to the MC Fee Schedule, ALL INSURANCE companies adjust their fee schedules. We have primary care doctors, a few of them accept Medicaid only patients. Yes we do. Those doctors collect a small fee for each patient assigned to him, or her. That fee, is a retainer of sorts (I dont know the exact name for it) but doctors do have a small incentive to accept Medicaid patients. The problem begins, when people overwhelm the waiting rooms when an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Randy H. replied:
When you talk to offices, state Medicare Medicaid (in that order) and you will be received better. Doctors clearly do not like Medicaid only patients because Medicaid doesn't pay for most procedures under their contracts.

Dr John Noble. He is THE knee dr to go to I was told by my pain management dr. He saw me 1&1/2 years ago and said my left knee needed replacement. He wanted to try a non surgical treatment first to put it off til I'm 60. He did rooster comb injections. That worked for 9 months. Completely took the pain away. Went back for another round several months ago. Pain free in the knee. I do need both shoulders replaced to and will be trusting him with it. He also has a great bedside manner, which is important to me. He does tell it like it is though. Wait time at app is very minimal and staff is awesome. My pain dr is being closed down and he has helped with finding me a new one. Very pleased with him.
