Hobart Animal hospital. Have been going to vets all my life and I have never met a better group of companion care givers.
Sam S. replied:
We love Valparaiso Animal Hospital next to McD's. If they are still doing it, the free vaccines for life is well worth the $98. One year is $75 and you get a microchip in the price as well. The exam is $55.

We have never had any issues with the staff at Dr Reed Westchester. The only small problem is sometimes they get really busy at front desk and you may have to hold a few minutes on the phone or at desk to check out. But I have sent many friends there from other vets and now staying at Dr reed

Robyn W. replied:
ABC Clinic in South Bend...they do cheap shots, super cheap for feral cats. They do dogs too.
Patty N. replied:
As stated earlier Neuter Scooter DOES NOT REQUIRE shots prior to them servicing. I recommend them because I have used them. However if they are not available due to their scheduling in our area as they were just here at the end of August, you might try a few of the others already mentioned. I would try Independent Cat Society (ICS) or Anderson's. If you need more info about ICS let me know and I'll get it to you. Neuter Scooter check their web sight. Anderson's I believe you can call and they have a recording with the info you need. I think they only operate on Saturday.
Jordan H. replied:
Highly recommend Anderson's Feline Population Reduction Clinic! They are in Beverly shores on Hwy 20. I used to foster for Lakeshore Paws, and I have taken over 150 cats there! wonderful work, very quick, and they also do shots for a total of about $60 per cat, which is a steal!

My dogs Vet said I should put my dog on a low protein Dog food with fiber! Any suggestions? I don't want to pay a fortune!
Jessica M. replied:
Depending on why the vet recommended low protein would truly depend if you can manage purchasing a food which is non-prescription. We had a dog with liver disease and only the prescription food would work, everything else had to high of a pecentage. In my experience a lot of the high quality foods like Blue Buffalo, Marrick and even Taste of the Wild will be grain free, which in turn would make it higher in protein. It's a bit of a haul, but the Sauk Villiage Animal Clinic on Torrence about two miles west of Rt. 30. Long story short, I agreed to take my friend's senior cat when she was no longer physically able to care for him, and she agreed to pay for any medical expenses that arose. Three years later (two weeks ago), he became very ill over night. I called his former mom and she told me to meet her there as Dr. Kim had been caring for him since he was a kitten. Turns out that he had suffered a heart attack and even though Dr. Kim did everything over the course of three days, she was kind (and direct) enough to tell me when it was "time". I will tell you as my friend told me...It's an old building with poor ventilation so the smell can be a bit much and its warm-up only so you may have to wait a while. However, Dr. Kim is amazing - totally invested in her patients, her prices are reasonable, she is one of two vets in the NWI area trained in laser surgery, and most importantly, she actually open seven days a week which is so rare. Mon-Fri, 8am to 8pm, I think it's the same on Saturday and shorter hours on Sunday. Plus, there's a staff member there around the clock with the animals. But she did a lot of research on Stu's condition and tried a few things that are still in trials, but he was 16 and his lungs were filling up with fluid; there was only so much that could be done. She let me back to the hospital area to see him and spend as much time with him as I wanted and when the time came, she handled the situation with complete compassion and integrity.
