Luna is a 1.5 year old female lab mix available through FCHS (fchsnc.org/adoptable-dogs). She is house trained and crate trained, tolerates my cats, and is great with my kids (4, 3, and 2 years old). She is roughly 55 lbs and would love a fenced in yard. I would be happy to answer any questions on her if you were interested

Hey girl, we got our last 2 black lab mixed from Franklin County Humane Society. They are great & the sweet pups are so happy to find their forever home. I've also fostered a big old handsome black lab through Peak Lab Rescue. Fostering is tough...we didn't want to give him up to his new Mom. They are also fantastic. Look at both sites & see if any of them look like your newest family member. Good luck! PM me if you have any questions about either place.

Saving Grace has several black labs. We adopted from them in February for the first time and we're impressed with their adoption process and the farm. I'd give them a look. You take your kids to the farm and get to interact with all the dogs. http://savinggracenc.org/dogs/

Just got home from meeting "Steve" from the American Wildlife Refuge. He met us at a local business, so neither of us had to drive too far. (http://awrefuge.org/help-i-have-and-injured-bir.html). When the hawk is healed, they will release him as close to his original territory as possible. I'm sure he'll be back in the neighborhood in a couple of weeks. He has family here. :) I got some nice photos of him before I secured him.

All the shelters are overwhelmed but if you can get enough money to foster them, I'm sure Purr Partners will allow you to put them in their foster program. My guess is that you will find homes for these cuties before you have to reach out to a foster place.

This is info I just received: Hi All, SoSA is hosting a sweet potato drop in Wake Forest this Saturday, February 24, from 9:00am until Noon. We will have 40,000 lbs of clean, cured sweet potatoes for volunteers to fill mesh bags with (10-lb bags; we supply the bags). Again, this is a potato drop, not a gleaning, so it will be clean work in a parking lot, not a field. As with gleanings, the filled bags will then be distributed that day to local non-profit food ministries to be given to folks in need. Also as with gleanings, potato drops are charitable events; no money ever changes hands; everything is given away at every stage. Potato drops are fun, family-oriented events, and a great youth project (we give service credits). We are looking for volunteers to come help with the bagging, and for a additional local ministries that could make use of some of these potatoes. If you are affiliated with or know of a food ministry that serves individuals in your community, you are welcome to take sweet potatoes back to them. I just need to know that the potatoes will be provided to a non-profit organization that gives the food, at no cost, to those in need. These potatoes were harvested from Jason Brown's First Fruits Farm in October. They have been washed and professionally cured, so they will store well for months if kept someplace dry and away from heat. Please let me know by return email if you are interested in participating, and if you have a ministry that you would like to take sweet potatoes to (and if so, how many pounds of sweet potatoes you would like). I will provide you the address of the event and other useful information. Thanks. Bruce -- Bruce Oland Triangle Gleaning Coordinator Society of St. Andrew gleantriangle@endhunger.org 919-533-9609
