After much delay, I'm beginning to try to find doctors in the Alexandria area. Any folks have recommendations for a GP (or nurse practitioner), GYN, or dentist?

Julie M. replied:
Dr Jeffrey Sisel for Dentist. Dr Karen Maser in Fairfax for Gynecologist.

I second Dr. Sisel for Dentist - great experience, super nice, and not overly pushy for "trendy' cosmetic options & super close over the foot bridge in Shirlington

Hi all! I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a general practitioner. My old doc moved out of state and the woman that took over is clueless. Any help is appreciated!
looking for a recommendation for a good acupuncturist in the arlington/alexandria area ...
Daniela M. replied:
Dr Wills at skyline wellness center

Marilee Perkal
Kristin S. replied:
Dr. Ashley Will at Skyline is the best. She helped me with fertility issues and then throughout my pregnancy. Skyline is right above XSport so super convenient. I have since moved and my new acupuncturist isn't as good as Ashley.
Andrea M. replied:
I go to Dr.Megan Oconner at Skyline Wellness at their Ballston office and love her. I've been seeing her since she moved into the practice from California. Mostly I go for asthma and inflammatory issues. She is also in the Army. She works MWF at the office which takes most major insurance.
Bart G. replied:
Eliza at Teal Center is great as well.
Carlos G. replied:
Heather Ruth - former Fairlington resident and longtime practitioner.

Andrea B. replied:
I've seen Dr. Steinmetz; she was our family doc for 10 years. Fantastic practice.
Katarina L. replied:
Kate Stewart at the Teal Center in Ballston. She is wonderful! Her energy alone is healing.
Jennifer L. replied:
Dr. Steinmetz's office has an osteopath named Dr. Dorothy Polahar who also does acupuncture. The combination of acupuncture and osteopathy can be exponentionally helpful.
Leigh M. replied:
I also like Dr Will at Skyline Wellness though at times she can be hard to book!
Does anyone have a recommendation for a GP? Not looking for a family doc as it's just me and I'm having a hard time finding one I like. Appreciate any leads! Thanks!
Jessica T. replied:
Dr. Christina Malekiani at Primary Care Arlington is wonderful. All the doctors in the practice are, and their office is in Shirlington so it's very convenient.
Alice C. replied:
Dr. Timothy Muir, the practice is called Pulmonary Medical Associates in Falls Church but he is an internist. Has been our doc for years, he is a great listener and very calm presence and very thoughtful, does not rush to treatment/drugs. On the side he volunteers in free clinic. Great guy and great doc. Sorry don't have his number handy but you can google with his name and you will get it.
Sonja S. replied:
My husband and I both see Dr. Chingchai Wanidworanun. His office is in Ballston. He's been our GP for five years now and we love the evening and weekend hours and his low-key manner. He's very kind and gives you lots of personal attention (personal calls to go over results, checking to make sure treatment fits in with personal habits, etc.)
Jena G. replied:
General Internal Medicine (GMIG on-line) on Fairfax Drive. All the docs are hooked up with Virginia Hospital Center, and they're all great doctors. I've been going to them for years. This office has an Urgent Care office downstairs that's open to walk-ins. Walking distance to Virginia Square Metro.
Stephanie S. replied:
Ditto re: the first posts re: Primary Care Arlington (VHC Physician Group). We go to Dr. Sitzmann but have seen all of the doctors and nurse practitioner and like them all. Their main office is in Shirlington but they do have hours at VA Hospital Center, I believe all the doctors have to rotate out of there once a week or something like that. They are tied to that hospital. http://www.vhcphysiciangroup.com/arlington/

I live in Old Town and have been happy with Children's Medical Associates (CMA) for my 3-month-old son, although it's not the most convenient location since they're past Landmark Mall:/ For pediatric chiropractor I recommend Dr. Shara Posner in Old Town (Back To Health Center). For me, I get acupuncture and chiro at Skyline Wellness: Alexandria and get my hair cut at Lorraine Aprile Salon (nice discount for first-time customers). Welcome to Old Town!!!:)

I used Dr. Shotashvili, she's right in Woodley Park across the street from the metro. 2639 Connecticut Ave NW, Suite C100, (202) 588-1878. And she definitely takes Blue Cross.

I love every doctor at the Telegraph Corner Family Medicine Center. and my dentist, Dr. Krieger in McLean is equally awesome. I've been with both for 20+ years.
