I had a pretty good experience with Pringle & Sons. I called them on short notice and they were up and ready to go the next day (Sunday). Since I didn't have that many things, they were willing to cut me a deal on the price. They're a family run business and were really courteous and helpful during the entire process, even though I had to reschedule on the same day. They're based in Arlington, so I definitely recommend them if you're moving/to from there.

Bookstore Movers rocked our world. Super efficient guys who were funny and nice. Fairly priced, on time, and responsive when we were setting up our move.

Gentle Giant was really good. EDIT: also, regarding fast - they would literally run back to their truck between loads.
thehaulguy replied:
I've heard really good things about [The Haul Guy](http://www.facebook.com/thehaulguy). He is not a mover though, more of a furniture delivery guy with a pickup so maybe not for this particular job.
Campcamp replied:
I used bestway movers when I moved a few months ago and they were great
maeby_not replied:
I used Haul Zing movers for my last move. They were great and they only charge for the time they get to your first place until they leave (they don't charge for travel from their lot). They have a flat $260 fee for 2 hours then charge by 15 minutes -if memory serves. I would recommend them highly.
freightboy replied:
I used [Joe Brown Moving](http://www.brownmoving.net/) as did several other people where I work. He's great and has a flat fee depending on the size of the truck/number of people he needs for the job. Plus, with his business model (you pay him when he is done with the move) it's pretty hard for him to rip you off.

Mighty Men Movers. Used them when moving into my current place (old house, narrow staircases/general "how are we going to make this fit" challenges). Nothing was damaged and they were all super professional - would use again.
rideashipmate replied:
I had a great experience with Two Guys and a Truck a few months ago. Resonably priced to me. They were quick and conscientious about my moving time constraints. They also carefully wrapped all fragile/furniture items in multiple blankets and tape to protect them.
punkinpie replied:
Not sure if they are in DC too, but we just moved in NoVa with Fairfax Transfer.

A Few Good College Men Movers. I'm using them for the second time this Saturday. They were quick and not too much more than a U Haul. They quoted me $340 for 3 hours. I'm gonna see if I can get them to take a little off that price.

I used Anytime Movers and liked them. It's an hourly rate and they let my roommates and I help out, which means it took less time and cost us less.

I just recently (a week ago) used [HaulZing](http://www.haulzing.com/). They were excellent. Worked very hard and got it done very quickly. They didn't even take a water break! It did take longer than expected but that's because we had more stuff than we thought before we began packing. Nothing broken, damaged, misplaced. A little pricier but totally worth it. Since you're in a storage unit it will take a lot less time than mine did as well.

Rent a u-haul truck, Learn Spanish. Then go to Takoma park and pick 2 guys up from the 7-11 at NewHampshire and University Blvd. Pay them 160$. Everyone wins. Swag.

College Blokes movers. Moved me 3 times and two o my friends. They love them. Professional, prompt and affordable. John is awesome. (703) 565-8327. PM me if you go with them or want more info. === Per request I am posting a response I sent in a PM. My wife and I used them for several moves: * In 2006 to pack the truck when we moved to Charlotte * In 2009 to unpack the truck when we moved back to Arlington * Last year when we moved from one apartment to another, between floors The owner, John Smith (his real name) is from South Africa, hence the British accent. He will usually bring at least two guys (ours was 1 bedroom so they didn't need much). He usually hires college guys or, in our case, a couple of Army guys stationed at Ft. Myer, one who was in the Old Guard. Very cool talking with them about guarding the tombs. They will wrap everything to protect it and are very gentle with electronics and furniture. My wife is very protective over our bedroom suit and they treated it with kid gloves. Plus they left us with the giant rubber band they wrapped around the dresser. They can bring hand trucks and dollys if needed. I'm not sure if they supply blankets or packing materials. Edit: added more info by request

One more for My Truck Buddy. They've moved us twice, and a few friends I've recommended them to. They're great, they're fast, and you pay by the hour, so if you're willing to help schlep you can save some money. Ultimately, our moves cost little more than a U-Haul rental (and beer and pizza for the friends who help), and they're a lot more careful with our stuff than we and our friends would be.
