Looking for a reputable and intelligent gastroenterologist in or near Forsyth County. I have to have an upper GI and I have heard horror stories of things going wrong.

Dr Q at GI north! He literally saved my life. I thought mine was leaky gut but it turned out that it's the food I was eating that killed my stomach along with meds. Also IBS was a huge factor. I would highly recommend him because he is a doctor that listens and will find a solution that works best for her. I have seen several gut doctors and this is by far the best one. My mom even likes him and that is huge considering my mom is the pickiest person when it comes to doctors. I wish you and your daughter the best of luck! Hope she gets the relief she needs soon!

I forgot to mention managing stress in my post. The part emotions play of many disorders is often the most important - as I have learned. Our bodies tell us, sometimes very loudly, when they are on overload. And it's not woo- woo stuff - it has to do with the release of hormones, etc. when we experience different emotions. These young kids are under a lot of pressure just being that age and then often being pushed in our society to succeed in school, achieve, achieve, etc. I listened to a short interview with Dr. Shefali Tasbary who has a few books that I'm sure include this. You might want to check her out. I wish you the very best. With 3 children and a multitude of grandchildren I know the frustration and pain you must be feeling as a mother. Try to stay positive and don't panic! There are a lot of great sounding resources in this thread.:-)

Adrianne J. replied:
Dr Obideen at Northside Forsyth with Atlanta gastrology. He listens and is very up to date with digestive diseases, especially chronic diseases
Jennifer A. replied:
Leaky gut contributes to many many chronic and inflammatory conditions. I have dealt with this personally. When doctors could provide no help I started looking at alternative practitioners. The gut actually heals very quickly when given the proper nutrients. The GI docs are just now starting to recognize the importance of a healthy microbiome and many are way behind on the current research. She would probably be helped by seeing a naturopath or functional medicine practitioner. They are typically not covered by insurance. I can recommend Deb McIntyre, ND (nature-heals.com), Dr Elizabeth Board at Atlanta Functional Medicine, or Dr. Campbell at Campbell Family Medicine (I haven't seen her personally, but am familiar with her practice). I'm an RN.
Sherry C. replied:
Diet and inbalance of intestinal flora is usually the culprit. There are many basic things you can cut out or down on and get a lots of relief. And lots of healing foods. There's lots of info on the web.Dr. Falor at Advanced Integrative Medicine could help but he doesnt participate in insurance except the blood panels are usually covered which are the biggest expense( they work with a lot of insurance s for them). It can be turned around - especially when you are young - but you have to be willing to make the dietary changes snd stick to it. Once you feel better though its usually no problem as you dont want to go back..
Barbra-Jean F. replied:
WE go to a Naturopath in Gainesville at The Spa at Green St....Dr. Boye. I have at least 12 friends that go to him. Side note: which Mayo is your relative at? My daughter is going for testing at the one in AZ, today.
