My husband had major shoulder surgery in May. We love his doc - Dr. Peter Symbas. FYI... Jason Schneider is a personal friend, and his specialty is hands.
Mindy W. replied:
Adrienne's recommendation, also known as Dr. X, is excellent. He only does shoulders and knees. I saw him for my knee but he is better known for shoulders.
Linda B. replied:
Dr. Lawrence Bircoll also w/Resurgeons is excellent. Both my mother and now my brother have been able to avoid surgery because of Dr. Bircoll. My Dad has also had great success w/knee and shoulder surgery. http://www.resurgens.com/.../104/Lawrence_A._Bircoll,_M.D.
Dr DeFelice, Resurgens Roswell. He did my knee but think he specializes in Shoulders. He was the Team Orthapedist for several Chicago Professional Teams. He is awesome!

If you go to Peachtree Ortho you can key in the body part that has the issues and up will pop their top docs in that practice. Then you can read the bios. I just booked an apt with Dr. Bernot there and he doesn't have an opening until October which makes me feel he's in demand, plus he's a neighbor.

otp, but i like nonsurgical orthopedics in marietta. yes, i know that the name might make you feel meh, but they are really good. even if they don't perform any surgery for you, they really do excellent follow up and really spend time with patients. stay away from dr. letha griffin at peachtree orthopedic. as a matter of fact, just don't even go to that place. they tried to pressure me into an unnecessary surgery that actually would have further damaged my knees! also, they kept insisting on giving me anti inflammatories that not only didn't work, they caused kidney stones!

Ortho atlanta has like twelve different offices across georgia, because their practice is so huge they can get you in for an appointment much quicker than other places. I'm sorry the receptionist was rude to you, but they come very highly recommended. I worked with ER docs for two years and ortho atlanta was the only one they would ever recommend.
k-r-i-s-t-i-n replied:
I'm sorry you had a bad experience with OrthoAtlanta. My family and I have been going to them for years for various injuries and they really are great. Please don't let a receptionist, who was probably having a bad day, deter you. Dr. Richard Johnston is fantastic, but when he's not available, Stephanie Dotson, PA, is equally knowledgeable and her schedule is easier to work with when you're in a pinch. And I love their new office in the Piedmont West building. Please give them a chance. I hope you get better soon!

I had mine replaced through Resurgens. They have a bunch of great doctors there and the post op care was very good in addition to the actual surgery. If they are in your network I would highly recommend them. Drs I would vouch for are Peretz, Hanna, and one other that the name escapes me at the moment. St. Joseph off glenridge on the north sid is where they usually practice but it is worth traveling for this kind of operation.
