In desperate need of a dog training facility. My 7 month old Border Collie is getting the best of me. Vet recommended CJS but after reading some reviews I am not sure.

Then a group class like at CJ's, Dog Days or Mind Your Manners would be good and probably more fun anyway. CJ has Border Collies so she is at least familiar with the breed, and Joan and Connie have experience with Herding dogs.

Paula E. replied:
What type of training do you want and what are you looking to do...basic obedience and manners, a little more serious types of working...I am a long time trainer and my trainer of choice for my needs is Joan Armstrong at dog days. I have also heard good things about Connie Skinner at Mind Your Manners. I would recommend both groups and one on ones...this way your dog can work and listen to you and also use the distractions of the groups and for the socialization aspect. I do not recommend provate training because many times the dog works for that trainer and also under a prong collar or electronic collar or both....As for CJ's I have heard that thre are too many dogs but that is the only negativity. Also have heard Suzi at Suzi's Country is is good. You need a good interactive trainer with a Border Collie, they need a job to do and lots of exercise. A lack of good exercise for dogs usually is the culprit for naughty and bad behavior. It's the key to a well mannered dog. Also boredom ads to that as well. Bored dogs with lack of exercise ='s going crazy humans.
Megan A. replied:
We went to CJs but ultimately went to Countryside Kennels in Brush Prairie. They are amazing. It's a mother daughter training team and they have been at it a long time. We have sent 2 dogs through their obedience training and the outcome was amazing.
ISO an affordable vet that does teeth cleaning for our dog. The vet we usually use is quoting us $400-$500. Any recommendations are welcome, thanks!

I am in a position of losing my baby, my service dog named Yorky forever if I couldn't...
The Senior Center in Vancouver has a free consultation with an attorney where the attorney advises you but cannot represent you. You could find out exactly what can be done to get your dog back, how much it would cost, where you can get it done for very little, who can help you, and, so on. The Battle Ground Senior Center might have this option, also.
Aimee M. replied:
You also can get help for Free with a Volunteer Attorney here in Vancouver: http://www.ccvlp.org/ They even have a Mascot, a Legal Beagle...a dog! right up your alley, so to speak :-)

Amazia for North County residents. We made a mistake with going with another BG vet for a period. Affordable shouldn't be your primary concern when it comes to selecting a vet.
