Our family has been going to Heartwood Dog and Cat Clinic for over twenty years. They really are good people. My boyfriend's family even started taking their dog there after an issue with another vet and they've been really happy with it.

My mom has worked for the Humane Society for more than a decade and swears by Orchard's. Dr. Eric is great. http://www.orchardsveterinary.com/ Dr. Ferguson is also another great veterinarian in Vancouver. http://www.animalmedicalvan.com/#3018

I have taken our cats to the Feline Pet Clinic for years. In my experience they know and love cats like no other. Good on you for caring.

I've switched to Summit Animal Hospital in Camas recently for my 2 cats. Both are rescues, one has diabetes, the other has a thyroid condition. Both of their conditions have improved after see this new vet. Hope your kitty feels better soon!
toekneewitt replied:
VCA East Mill Plain Animal Hospital. I cannot speak highly enough of them. Our dog had a lot of issues with a form of lupus last year and bad reactions to antibiotics. The team at VCA was so understanding and caring and gave our girl the best treatment.
Do you <3 your vet? Is your vet in the Orchards area in Vancouver? Please share their info here. I have a sick kitty who needs a doctor today and it's time for me to...

I have been using Orchards Vet for all my small animals for 15+ years. They have always been friendly, genuine and very helpful.
Quisha W. replied:
I don't have a vet:/ We go to Neighborhood Vet traveling van once a year for vaccinations. But all my life my family has taken all our animals to http://cw-animalhospital.com/ I trust them more than anyone else with my pets. The veteran & staff all came out to our house when we had put my dog done. They go up & way beyond for the animals

Are there places to get a dog spayed for low income families? The lowest I could find was 180 by a vet with a good reputation.
Victoria A. replied:
I would also suggest contacting Second Chance Companions and asking them. Oregon Spay/Neuter Fund has low cost coupons that you can find on the Oregon Humane Society website but I do not know that any of those Vet offices would combine the offer with teeth cleaning. You should also contact Companion Pet Clinic.

Can someone recommend a vet who does laser eye surgery for Distichiasis? I do believe someone mentioned a female Veternarian?

We recently saw an opthamologist at Columbia River Vet. Gia Klaus. http://www.columbiarivervetspecialists.com/
Shelley B. replied:
I would call CRVS in Vancouver, or Dove Lewis or NW Vet Specialists--both in PDX and ask them. Sorry. No idea. I now NWVS has an opthamologist. Not sure if he does surgery. http://www.vcaspecialtyvets.com/northwest-veterinary-specialists. http://www.dovelewis.org/
I am wondering if anybody knows of a vet in the area who is good with small dogs and has decent prices. Thanks

Stephanie, That is horrible! I know a lot of ppl in here like Alder Creek, but I am one of the few who don't. Battle Ground Animal hospital is wonderful!
New to the area & my dog needs a new Vet. Which is the best and most reasonably priced in the area?
Kristen W. replied:
Alder Creek
Stacey M. replied:
We take our dogs to Dr. Teagarden at Alder Creek.

AlderCreek hands down. Their number is 687-3141. They care for our personal pets, foster dogs and dogs that we foster for our Military HEROES

We have loved Alder Creek for the past 15 years but their exam prices have gone through the roof - in just a couple of years the cost of just the basic exam has nearly doubled to $44! I hope you can find someone more affordable with as good of care!!!
Brena A. replied:
Evergreen Animal Hospital in Vancouver is my go to, but I also use Alder Creek for my reproductive visits and late night calls as they are open late.

But for midnight emergencies, Columbia River emergency (by Costco and Krispy Kreme) has a very nice staff.
Keri-Lyn J. replied:
Alder Creek is great out out there but if you come to Vancouver Animal Care Clinic is awesome and so is East Padden Vet. Depends on your dog too and what they are ok with.:)

I have always had wonderful experiences with St. Francis. I don't understand what people think the problem is there. They are inexpensive as well.
Lisa K. replied:
St Francis has a horrible reputation. I used them 14 years ago and they were great sadly since then I've heard so many horror stories.
Lisa L. replied:
The one by Costco is good. Columbia River Veterinary Specialists. 6607 NE 84 th St #109, Vancouver, WA 98665 (360) 694-3007

I'm searching for the article. Here is the Koin News 6 report and it directs to Dr. Baker. Do I believe people make mistakes? Absolutely. Is he human? He made several mistakes so yes, he is human. Can people change for the better? Absolutely. So if he is still there and has made changes for the better, then I would continue sending your pets there. I would check their ratings for current practices and check the disciplinary board for the doctors and make sure there have been no further incidents since 2012. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKJXF1 yDMP0
Shan B. replied:
Banfield at petsmart is open. I go to the one by the mall across from target. Dr Amsler is amazing!! Also Dr Anderson.
Susan S. replied:
We have always gone to Columbia River Vet Specialists for emergencies. They are SPENDY but worth every penny!
Karen R. replied:
Go to Columbia River Vet specialist, I would not recommend the other ...
Jim B. replied:
Agree with Jamie, there was an article about the fraud of business and care at St. Francis and I would not advise going there. The Urgent Care Vet by Costco would be your best place.
Alyssa S. replied:
Been very happy with St Francis for my pets. I've used them for emergencies and they didn't over bill or make us wait very long.
