Colleen Stein - I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. Heartland Alliance is a fantastic organization and can use almost anything you need to donate. Reach out to Rachael Carbone and tell her I suggested it. Also, you may want to try the Friendship Center on 2733 W Lawrence. If you have questions or need help - feel free to PM me.

Also try the Brown Elephant, part of Howard Brown Health Center. They make pickups. http://howardbrown.org/brown-elephant/donate/

Cornerstone Community Outreach on Elston. I discovered it through my Uptown Tent City advocate contact for homeless donations. This place shelters or provides for families sheltered and has a free store and a thrift shop. Last time someone had a lot to clear out beyond blankets, sleeping bags, etc., for the viaduct homeless, Eric told me about it. I can get you in touch with him if you'd like.

Good morning!! My son has been collecting children's books to donate to a charity. Does anyone know of a local charity that would like books?...
Does anyone know a charity dentist/clinic that will make a bridge for low/no cost?
Candice B. replied:
Try Erie Family Health. They have a couple locations in the City. I’ve done some pro bono work for them and they may be able to help. Probably not free but low cost.

I don't mean to sound negative but I am not sure you will find what you are looking for. I've spent a lot of time looking for low-cost/free dental work & I've had almost no success. Heartland Dental & UIC are pretty much the options in Chicago. Payment plans, sliding scale fees, and Care Credit can help but I've never found a place that will do that kind of dental work for free. I'm sorry. I wish I had better news because I know many people who need this kind of help. Clark Dental had been the most helpful with payment plans and Care Credit.
