http://www.domicilefurniture.com/ That's where I got my couch. They have a decent close-out section in the back.

If you care to venture into the west burbs, there's a great store called Divine Consign on Oak Park Blvd. just north of the 290. They have some very cool pieces there.

Check out Andersonville -- it's a bit north of the city but is sort of a cluster of cool furniture places. They all seem to buy old furniture and redo it quite nicely. Scout is definitely the bombest place. And when you're hungry eat some yuppie brunch at M. Henrys -- holy magiscience is it good. Most of the stores aren't cheap, but there are a bunch of antique or second hand shops that you can gravedig and find good things at if you're into putting in a lot of time to sand and repaint. Other than that, craigslist or IKEA.

I use to go to Harlem Funiture but after a few years it would fall apart. I am talking about beds, couches, dressers. Cheaply made in my opinion. Now I shop at Ashley's Furniture and Darvins.

We have actually bought a few items (bed, dining room, china cabinet) from http://www.furnituregeek.com/ . They have great prices and the delivery guys are always friendly. I shop in the store to see what I want and then check with Furniture Geek to see if I can get it for cheap. They are based out of North Carolina or somewhere out east, so delivery can sometimes take a few weeks.

Looking for 4-6 kitchen chairs -- anyone have a suggestion of a resale/used furniture store in the area? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

There's a great family run shop on Irving Park by the Patio theatre. They have a furniture album on their Facebook page and they are super friendly and helpful. You could call and see what they have. https://www.facebook.com/thriftandthrive?ref=ts&fref=ts
Laurie V. replied:
the other local thrift stores are not great for full sets of anything. The Brown Elephant on Halsted by Whole Foods usually has quite a bit of furniture. I bought our whole set on Craigslist and got a great deal.
Helene S. replied:
not quite Irving Park, but the Brown Elephant on Clark in Andersonville has a small bit of furniture. also Green Element (way up north) on Broadway just north of Granville in the very back. tons of well-priced vintage furniture, though a bit shabbier in there than Brown Elephant (i just moved from that area; it's fairly new).

I just remembered something.. the Uhaul rental place on Kedzie south of Addison but before the expressway has and odd assortment of furniture for sale

Recommendations for a resale furniture store nearby that can deliver to a second floor apartment? I would love to get a dresser on the market place and bring it up...

I actually found a lovely dresser at Salvation Army on Montrose for 29 clams! Used Dolly for delivery. Ended up costing me, including tips, 100 bucks. Not too shabby!
