Jiu Jitsu gyms?? Hey everyone, I'm interested in learning Jiu Jitsu and wanted to know of any gyms in the Columbus area. I have no experience, but I'm really wanting to...
yrrosimyarin replied:
There are great BJJ gyms all around Columbus. I need to write a standard answer for this. Practically all of the bigger gyms will be around $130/month, depending on how many months you buy. Some smaller places with fewer classes will be less. All of them will let you try a few classes for free or nearly free. These are the guys I have first or second-hand knowledge of. [Relson Gracie Ohio](http://gracieohio.com) in Westerville is the oldest, and is very old-school "Gracie fundamentals." Exceptionally family-friendly. My kid and I both used to train here. [Super System BJJ](https://supersystembjj.com) is a new gym in Dublin and where I currently train. It has a very nice facility, small class sizes, and a very active morning class. [Gracie UA](http://www.gracieua.com/) is a smaller gym in UA. Very laid back atmosphere with a good core of students and teachers. [Ronin](https://www.ronintrainingcenter.com/) is also near campus, and has the strongest competition reputation in the region. They also do a lot of MMA training - it's a huge facility. I know some people who love it, some people who bounced off the level of competitiveness. [Ohio Combat Sports Academy](http://www.ohiocombatacademy.com/) is a good place over in Pickerington. I don't know them as directly, but their head black belt runs one of the local tournament circuits, and I've competed at their facility before. There are others around, but those are the ones I hear about most. I can personally highly recommend the instructors and culture at Super System and at both the Gracie schools, but really just try them out and find a place that fits your schedule/location/personality.

Beyond Limits Training downtown. Not as stellar equipment as some in the same market, but the best people in the city go here. The most competitive lifters, bodybuilders, and trainers are at this gym. Plus you get to see me growl at inanimate objects sometimes

@moorescore what type of body builder/powerlifting gym do you want. if you just want to focus on getting your big 3 up for a powerlifting meet I would say lexen xtreme or dogg house. if you are wanting more of a bodybuilder gym with tons of machines powershack in hillard or grove city, or metro fitness in worthington or hillard. if you what semi powerlifting with some crossfit Columbus lifting company. if you want light powerlifting with light bodybuilding beyond limits downtown. Light strongman training with some crossfit beyond limits in reynoldsburg.
