Can anyone tell me of a vet that may be open right now? I live in EDH
Kristin L. replied:
Paula, I Googled all the VCAs in this area... and I didn't even LOOK at the one that's called VCA Sac Veterinary Referral Center. I thought it was just a place to call for the nearest VCA! Should've looked in to it! I'm SO HAPPY to know it is still there (but with a new-ish name)!!!! It's so close to those who need a place off the Hwy 50 corridor! THANK YOU for clarifying!! I called the Elk Grove VCA about 10 weeks ago for a specialty need and asked specifically about that location and was told the EG location was the ony Bradshaw VCA vet and that it had changed locations. Not sure if she misunderstood or what. But it's RIGHT where it should be (Bradshaw and 50)! Thanks a million for clarifying.... not sure about others out there (especially with MY misinformation) but I'd never have known. So we've got this one right off Hwy 50, the one on Bradshaw in EG, and the one in Loomis. We should be covered
Kristin L. replied:
Emergency? Go to VCA Bradshaw Animal Hospital in Elk Grove (they moved.... big bummer for those of us in EDH): 685-2494. They have SPECIALISTS who can handle anything. They're fantastic.
Karen P. replied:
Vca is off of Bradshaw in Sacramento near Folsom blvd. there is another Bradshaw vet out in Elk Grove but I don't think it's a Vca one
Francesca L. replied:
Shingles Springs Vet is now open for emergencies, 7 pm to 1:30 am 7 days a week.
Kristin A. replied:
VCA is where you should go. The S. Shingle and Durock vet doesn't have the best reputation.
Paula F. replied:
The SS vet hospital is brand new . . . not the one on Durock that so many people had problems with . . . I think it is much better than the old one. But still, from EDH, VCA is not much further, and it is state of the art . . . nicer than most human hospitals!

Loomis. 24 hours Pet Hospital
Kristin L. replied:
Dr. Bader at Shingle Springs Vet Clinic: (530) 677-0390
Karen S. replied:
Shingle Springs Vet Clinic677-0390, 676-9044. 4211 Sunset Lane #101. I think they are across from Lee's Feed.
Paula F. replied:
Kristin Moe Lyle--no there are 2 ER vets of Bradshaw - one down in EG, but the other north of Hwy 50 among all the home improvement businesses (tile, lumber etc) and business park. If you take Bradshaw exit, take an immediate right after a fast food restaurant, take that road til it ends (about 3 blocks) and take a left you are at VCA. It is still there as of 3 weeks ago.
UPDATE: I wanted to let all of you who were so kind or offered words of hope or help - Our dear Boxer girl, Julie, was able to pass quietly while sleeping in her own...
Kasey D. replied:
Shingle Springs Vet clinic is great with my pets. So sorry you are having to make such a hard decision.
Rhiannon M. replied:
A friend of mine uses Airport Pet Clinic and her vet, Dr Burley comes out to the house to do it. She also takes the animals and has cremation available as well. She's currently in the same situation with her girl. Such a hard thing to do.:((
Tanya E. replied:
Black Oak Mine Animals Hospital, helped us with our 15 |year old lab. Came to the house and we're wonderful
Lise M. replied:
Denise, I am so sorry you are going through this. It's the hardest and most important decision we make for our pets and shows that we love them when we can say goodbye and give them peace and comfort. Dr. Bader from Shingle Springs euthanized our dog in 2003. He came to the house and after it was over he then took our dog for cremation. May your memories remind you that your sweet dog will always walk quietly beside you.
Jeanette W. replied:
A friend used Dr. Mary Pride Clark and loved her. She handled the cremation as well. My friend said she would use no one else. (Hi, Denise!)
