Do any of you happen to know of a place that repairs violins or at least sells them in the flower mound/Lewisville area?
Lisa S. replied:
Don't go anyplace here. You should go to Rury's. They are the only people I trust. People from the DSO and Dallas Opera trust them. And their prices are great. And they never try to charge you for anything you don't need. And once you go there once, you will see why I put my faith in them 100% http://www.ruryviolin.com/

I personally don't trust Music and Arts for string instrument repair. They have to send them out. (I've never had a bad experience there but some of their rental strings are absolutely horrible; they are more focused on band instruments and do a great job from what I hear). You want a true luthier. Joel McMillian at UNT string repair shop is extremely reasonable, we've used him for bow rehair. I take our viola and cello to The Luthier Shop in Aubrey TX. Small shop but super nice people. We purchased the viola as well as the cello bow from them. There's also a very reputable luthier in Plano but I can't recall his name at the moment. Dallas Strings also has a very good reputation and that's who our feeder orchestra schools use for rentals.
