Northshore trail is a long single track with a nice mix of climbs/decents and varied terrain. Also: River Legacy has some good off road stuff, lb houston is a nice flat technical single track trail. There are lots more around, check this out: http://www.texasmountainbiketrails.com/trails/

Bicycles Plus is a good place to go. They have great customer service and they're local. The NS trail is one of the better trails in the area. It's on Corps of Engineers property and is maintained by the Dallas Off Road Biking Association (DORBA). There are many other fun mountain bike trails in the metroplex, as you will see in the link below. http://dorba.org/trails.php

I also have to recommend Meet Up as a great way to meet those with like-minded interests. Everything from vegan groups to fitness groups to games and crafts. If he doesnt find a group for his interest area, he can start one. Also, there are various Rotary groups in the area if he is civic minded ... many opportunities to volunteer and be involved.

Marshall Creek=Trophy Club same same. Its good for a quick hour or two ride. They have a kids track, a small motocross track, and then a enduro type outter loop. The loop has some directional signs that help but there are some criss-crosses you gotta pay attention at. For REAL riding I suggest Red River Riding Trails just north of Muenster. 2700 acres of all the variety you ever wanted.

Agree Greg Decker !! We love Red River worth the drive and much more fun!! We love to camp there also:-)
