Last weekend my friends and I purposely set out to go eat in Gatlinburg at a restaurant that is not a chain and not part of a corporation and we found a new favorite place, the food was fantastic and the people were wonderful. Try https://www.facebook.com/296912898624 Mountain Edge Grill across the street from the Village, you wont regret it :)

I just got back from a trip. We didn't venture into Gatlinburg, but ate around Pigeon Forge, Wears Valley and Townsend. We ate at: Hillbilly's Restaurant (Breakfast)- Wears Valley - Very good, reasonably priced breakfast. They serve some cinnamon biscuits for the table before your meal. They are excellent Riverstone Family Restaurant (Dinner and Breakfast) - Townsend - I enjoyed the breakfast more than the dinner. My family enjoyed the catfish they got. I got the blackened trout. I enjoyed the blackened trout at a different restaurant later in the trip better. Elvira's Café (Breakfast) - Wears Valley - Good breakfast, but higher priced than the other restaurants we ate in the area. Cheddars - (Dinner) - Pigeon Forge - Decent chain restaurant food. My family enjoyed it more than I did. Old Mill Restaruant (Dinner) - Pigeon Forge - We went here last trip, and it was the best meal of the trip. I don't think it was as good as last time, but it was still good. BIG portions. Your meal comes with soup, salad, corn fritters, your meal with two sides, dinner rolls and a dessert. Old Mill Pottery House and Café (lunch) - Pigeon Forge - Probably my favorite meal of the trip. Reasonably priced and everyone enjoyed their plates immensely. Trailhead Steak and Trout (Dinner) - Townsend - Another good meal. This is where I got the very good blackened trout. Didn't go with the steaks, but might next time. VERY good meal. Everyone walking out while we were in the waiting area was saying how good the place was.

Best Italian Cafe and Pizzeria in Gatlinburg
Linda G. replied:
The Peddler. Yes there's usually a wait, but you can get a table in the bar ("first come first served"). Go early. $$$ We like Cherokee Grill and Park Grill. $$$ The Alamo $$ is okay but nowhere near as good as The Peddler. Sorry but we went to Crystelle Creek one time and won't go back. The food is okay, but that restaurant is nasty! In Pigeon Forge we usually eat at Timberwood Grill $$ on The Island. Broad menu, reasonably priced and never have to wait if you go before 7 because everybody there usually chooses Dick's Last Resort, Paula Deen, or Margaritaville. If you love seafood Harpoon Harry's (in Pigeon Forge) is decent. If you just want a sandwich (or picnic meal) for lunch you can't beat Old Dad's or Back Alley Grill. $ we love their sandwiches after a morning on the trail. Breakfast in Gatlinburg - Crockett's Breakfast Camp $

Smoky Mountain Brewery for pizza, ribs and burgers that are great. If they are busy Calhoun's makes the SMB's ribs so go there. The Park Grill at the entrance to the Park is higher priced but amazing steaks, dessert and an unbelievable salad bar. My husband even likes the salad bar and he hates any l green food...lol.
